Where are we going today?

Y'all ready for a super fun ranch experience, kids? Well, just head to the Oil Ranch in Texas where there is BIG fun waiting to be had by all ages!

Oil Ranch gives families that good old fashioned Texas experience, with some pretty fun activities thrown in!

Let's start with the train ride - all aboard! Here, the Oil Express is waiting to take you on a fun ride around the ranch, by the windmill, and near the stocked lake - keep an eye out for that catfish!

If it's not the trains you're on, it might be because you're at the pony rides! A friendly Oil Ranch employee will lead kids around the arena for one-on-one attention for those kids under 13 years who just love animals.

More rides? Yes please! Let's head on over to the Hay Rides where you can enjoy the weather as you are pulled by a tractor on your fun wagon! You'll head right out to the pasture to hand feed that cattle - what a fun experience!

Kids with energy will have a field day on the Kid Hopper - their 2.800 sq ft jumping pillow, giving you a whole new perspective of the ranch, and you might even see Daisy in the Dairy Barn - their dairy cow! Here, kids can learn about the milking process, so you can see it's not just fun to be had at Oil Ranch - it's learning too!

Of course, you can't have a ranch without animals, and here you can actually hop in the pen with a staff member and pet those cute domestic animals!

With a seasonal swimming pool, hamster wheels, and Indian village, and climbing on a giant spider web, there is SO much for the family, you might find yourself heading back again and again to fit it all in!

After all, Texas does things BIG!

First the PROS: PRICE, you only pay $15 per human with no up charge for anything except paintball and food. CROWDS, the place is so spread out that there is room for 10 times as many people than what I experienced.
TRAIN: seems to be the only thing partially maintained.
PARKING: lots of good, dry ground to park on.
CONS: STAFF: Deceit, attitude, laziness from the entrance gate to the exit gate. Everyone raves about the food, Some of the attraction attendants act as if you are disturbing them from their break, the general store attendant also runs...Read More

I am always looking online for reviews but never write them. After visiting Oil Ranch this weekend with my daughter and friends I told myself : you've got to write a review on this place. My daughter and I loved this place! The fact that all the activities were included with the entrance ticket was an eye catcher. The activities they have are kid friendly and a lot of fun. You can actually take outside food and have a picnic with your little one. At the end of your day there the kids get to pick their own pumpkin. The farm that we visited last year...Read More

HUGE RIP OFF! Very expensive. Waste of time. There was not much to do. There was nobody operating the few things that were there. The lines were ridiculously long. The lady, "Ms Linn" was rude. She told my kids not to sit on the fence, not to walk on the grass in the parking lot, she told me not to sit on a giant pumpkin, she REFUSED to give me a refund. She called me a liar basically and ripped us off. Don't go there!

Took my son(6) and daughter(18mo.) here for the Fall Festival after a neighbor referred us. The webpage doesn't do this place justice. My kids really enjoyed themselves! Lots of activities to keep the kids entertained and plenty of wide open spaces for them to run around. Well worth the money. There were no additional fees for the activities and the kids each got to pick out a free pumpkin. Great fun.

Took the kids on a clear sunny Saturday expecting a day full of fun experiences for the kids, but instead it was the opposite with not much fun and not much to do, the cow was not giving milk that day, could not get on the hay ride because there wasn't anybody to operate it, couldn't ride the train for the same reason of the hay ride, the animals in one petting zoo were sleeping and resting, and in the other petting zoo the animals were starving and aggressive for food and no one was there to feed them. The maze is not up to date is old, the horses...Read More

TRAIN: seems to be the only thing partially maintained.

CONS: STAFF: Deceit, attitude, laziness from the entrance gate to the exit gate. Everyone raves about the food, Some of the attraction attendants act as if you are disturbing them from their break, the general store attendant also runs the food window so I wanted to speed things up by letting the cook know what I wanted so she could be cooking, the clerk said ok that will be $6.50 and I said that is not all of my order, just the kitchen part. and she replied with this hand on the hip head shaking attitude about how I went around her and placed my order already. I'm thinking how easy it is to offend her. Everything I said was either wrong or I was not waiting long enough to let her help me so 10 min later I was finally done with that. and that brings me to the next CON:
FOOD: Honestly, save your money for some gas station sushi or a corndog that has been under the heat lamp for 10 hours because it is a far cry better than this place. $8.50 for 5 nuggets and a corn dog that could not be bitten through, between the 3 of us we didn't finish any of it.
MAINTENANCE: everything is in disrepair, has insect infestations, spiderwebs, the railing is nearly falling off the hayride trailer, you don't even want your kids anywhere near the Tee Pee in the Indian village. and the putt putt golf is just plain worn out and hols full of dirt.
The kids will love the train ride and the cattle feeding hayride, as well as all of the other activities, but as a parent you will cringe at some of the lawsuits waiting to happen here.

Bil Brunson replied to this post on Oct 27, 2014 the reply is as follows:

Notice you gave negative review for the Oil Ranch. Did you notify the Mgmt. About any of your complaints? You gave them props for keeping their cost down but expected to be maintained like a 100.00 ticket to Disney world? I go there often and their focus is on animals and educating kids. Never have I been any outdoor venue where the food was why I went there. It just bothers me when someone does not let anyone know about items that were issues and thinks they need to post negative reviews.
And my reply;
So,Bil Brunson, you think people should say nothing about the negative, and rave about the good? No, the review feature is there to give your honest opinion or an account of what happened to forewarn potential patrons. As I explained, I was "LIED TO" about the quality of the food or I would have never gone anywhere near the snack bar, and this review would have been much different because of the 2 main negative things I would have not have experienced, both of which were a blatant choice by a representative of the establishment. Which brings up another negative point that angers me, they stole $8.50 from me by selling inedible crap to me through a lie which made the sale possible. My wife bit into one of those nuggets and spit it right back out, then my daughter (without seeing her mother do it) repeated the action, so that was a really expensive box of colored water (juice). And you honestly think management has no Idea that employees at the front gate are trying to promote the snack bar? Or perhaps you might think it slips their comprehension of the quality of food they serve? They need to be told the place is falling apart? I'm pretty sure that Ass hole at the snack bar has no idea she has an attitude problem and has no business dealing with the public. Did you have another question so I could enlighten the public a bit more?

The farm that we visited last year in the fall, I had to pay for the entrance, the activities and the pumpkin. So the fact that all the activities but two (Mining and Paintball) were included was a money saver. We definitely go back again!!!

The maze is not up to date is old, the horses on the petting zoo are going bald, the only fun we had were on the putt putt mini golf and even that is not up to date and they do not keep up with the maintenance on it. It was a totally disappointment the kids left bored, not worth the $70 I paid for two kids and two adults and the trip I made, and it would be very nice of them to at least notify people before they pay so they know what they are paying for, or give a discount for the fact that everything they advertise is not working or not operating as it should. HUGE RIP OFF!!
