Where are we going today?

Get ready to take a walk on the wild side! North Carolina Zoo is a whopping 500 acres filled with animals from across two continents, where the whole family can come face to face with weird and wonderful animals.

It's not only a place for fun and excitement, but learning. All of the exhibits have been created to resemble the natural habitats of the animals, so kids can witness the animals how they would act in their own wild! Imagine coming face to face with these amazing wild beasts!

Ever wanted to go on safari in Africa? At North Carolina Zoo, you can explore the exhibits which will make you feel like you are on those magical plains! Make sure you leave about 2 hours to explore this region - there's a LOT to see!

For all those bird loving families, the Aviary is where you will love the most. The R.J Reynold Forest Aviary is an amazing collections of over 3,000 tropical plants, as well as dozens of exotic birds. How many species do you think you will find!

Of course, you're in North Carolina, so what better way to celebrate the animals of the USA, than in the North American exhibit! From creatures from the hot Sonoran Desert, to that cold and ice Rocky Coast, kids will be surprised how many creatures there are from their own country!

Make sure you allow about 3 hours for this section because there's certainly a LOT to see!

We told you that North Carolina Zoo is more than just animals though! The KidZone is a GREAT place for those kids aged 2 to 10, with nature play areas, as well as a stream to splash around in (so don't forget those rain boots!)

With a carousel and a place to actually hand feed giraffes, we think you will have a ROAR-ing time at North Carolina Zoo!

Wow, what an amazing place. It would be worth the price just to walk around it as a park. Well staged and landscaped with foot trails if you want to walk or shuttles if you want to ride. Since they keep the animals in as health and natural an environment as possible some time you many not see them all but that is part of the fun, trying to find them. I only had a very short time to visit and hope to come back.

We love, love, love this zoo. The new Kid's Zone is Amazing, with everything from a garden and costume change to making mud pies.! The Grandchildren all love it too. Lots of stuff to see and do, for adults and kids. It is clean, friendly. We got to talk to the handlers of the gorillas and talk to them. We found out so much about them. The woman outside the desert exhibit was really informed about the desert animals. Learned a lot there as well. The Grand kids were playing in the Kid's Zone when they brought out a hedgehog to pet. So, so...Read More

This place was incredible! A huge zoo. It was a beautiful day and the majority of the animals were really active. Saw lots of them swimming, playing, and interacting with one another. Lots of them came really close to the viewing windows. The best parts were seeing a mother Gorilla playing and rolling on the ground with her baby, right in front of the window! The baby cougars were wrestling and running around in their habitat while their mom sat idly by. Animals looked extremely happy and content. They had literally valleys of land for different...Read More

The baby cougars were wrestling and running around in their habitat while their mom sat idly by. Animals looked extremely happy and content. They had literally valleys of land for different terrains with the elephants, rhinos, and hoof-stock. The exhibits were some of the best I've ever seen as far as AZA standards go. Food is really cheap for an attraction, and if you're tired, you can take a tram. A great workout for your calf's if you feel like walking!
