The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum was founded in the early 1990s in a small, one room office in the Lincoln Building, located in the Historic 18th & Vine Jazz District of Kansas City.

Today, it's a place that preserves and celebrates the rich history of African-American baseball, and the profound impact on the social advancement of the USA!

Your visit to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum is a self-guided experience, where you can explore the exhibition that features a host of artifacts and displays, from text panels, hundreds of photographs, and even several film exhibits!

All the displays are integrated with a timeline of baseball and African American history, making it an invaluable experience for kids - whether they are interested in baseball or not!

The Negro Leagues Baseball Museum has created give uniquely different travelling exhibits that offer an even more interesting and entertaining perspective on the scope and magnitude of the professional Negro Baseball Leagues.

One visit you might be learning about a certain leagues legend, and their life and legacy in the sport. Another exhibition might show how people and events broke boundaries. You might even be learning about the incredible women that were so important to baseball's history.

Strollers are permitted in the museum.

Food isn't permitted in the gallery, so grab something to eat in the area before or after your visit! (Chewing gum isn't permitted either!)

The length of the tour varies but they recommend a minimum of an hour to fully enjoy the exhibit.

From bags, to hats, books, caps apparel, posters and more, the Museum Store has a host of fun gifts and souvenirs for you to take home!

The NLBM is a valuable resource that educates the public about a forgotten chapter of American history. In addition, the NLBM’s impact can be felt in its efforts to promote tolerance and the importance of diversity and inclusion. They offer programs for kids and even adults!

Strollers are permitted in the museum.

Wheelchairs are available free of charge. Closed captioning for the hearing impaired is available on the main exhibit film. Assistive animals (guide dogs) are allowed.
