Where are we going today?

Vroom Vroom - get those drivers helmets on - it's time to feel the need for speed! (but don't worry parents - it's controlled!)

Need 2 Speed is the ONLY electric, high-speed public indoor kart racing arena in the whole of Reno! With over 50,000 square feet of lovely climate controlled space, you can take the whole family on 1/4 mile track with karts specially for both adults and kids!

You can race the family, or you can race the clock and try and compete against yourself! It's a great way for kids to gain self-confidence as they improve each lap. (Also great for focus and coordination, so yes parents, Need 2 Speed helps kids develop key skills for later in life!)

What's great about Need 2 Speed, is that there are karts specially for those little racers under 48", and then ones for adults (over 13 years or 48")

Safety is paramount, so everyone gets a helmet, and they must be worn so you can speed around the safe, electric tracks knowing that you're in safe hands.

The sport is also a non-contact activity, so kids can be safe that they're not going to be bumped or blocked by other drivers. If driver can't pass you safely, then they're not allowed, so all those worries about being pushed off the track - don't worry about them!

Need 2 Speed is a great family activity, where you can all race together, or compare your times with the little ones.

Drivers - are you ready, because that chequered flag is about to come down and then you know that means the race is about to start!

The biggest issue for me at K1 speed is the variability of the carts. I did 5 races, and every race I had a different cart which performed vastly different from the one I had before. The carts also have to be the most uncomfortable things that I have ever had the displeasure of sitting. At 6' 3" and 200lb, I am a bigger guy. I had no issues with my legs, but I did not fit in the seat. The seat was too narrow. I now have two big bruises on my back and thighs from where the seat was pushing against me. It seems these carts were all designed for children....Read More

I can honestly say that my friend and I had a horrible experience at this establishment. From the manager making sexual gestures at children, which I had no choice but to ask him to stop as I witnessed disgust from the children's parents. I defiantly cannot consider this a family location after seeing that. Also, I got ripped off a good sixty dollars, the person working the desk would not honor my groupon, which I also paid money for. This place is horrible and I would love to see it go out of business.

Going here was an awful experience. The staff was unorganized and the karts didn't work right. The first one I was in, the brakes didn't work at all. The second one I was in, the brakes worked sometimes. My friends had other problems with their karts and one of my friends had the drive chain brake during a race! The seats themselves were quite uncomfortable as well and the steering wheel was flat like driving a truck.

About a month before I went here, I went to a similar type of go kart race track (Pole Position) out on the East Coast and it was...Read More

Worst experience I have had in a while. We couldn't find the place for a good twenty minutes, we even called for directions and a rude, young girl answered. She sounded like she was 16 and her directions were poor. It frustrated us to the point we wanted to call again and ask for an adult/supervisor.

Instead of giving up (like we should have), we finally found the place. It wasn't too busy, we signed in and got in line. There were two young girls that had the customer service skills of a cucumber- they were rude and acted like they were doing...Read More

With such poor customer service like the 2 very young girls at the counter, I don't see how they are still in business. After driving in from south chandler with my wife and 3 boys for our first visit we then stood in line for the first 10 minutes in front of the first girl before she proceeded to tell me she was busy and it would be quicker to go to the end of the other line. A simple basic "register closed" sign could have helped that but they must not have those.

Then after standing in the new line and getting to the register finally, we were...Read More

It seems these carts were all designed for children. The race officials at the track are all idiots. They don't enforce their rules very strongly and make some pretty poor calls as far as waving the blue flag (passing) goes. I would not suggest coming here. Octane Raceway is a much better carting place and I would go there. I tried out K1 once and I am never going back.

We ended up getting a free race added to our accounts but honestly, I just would have preferred a refund.

There were two young girls that had the customer service skills of a cucumber- they were rude and acted like they were doing us a favor by over-charging for their services and lack of charm.

I wish that was the worst though, the system for their laps is flawed and their 14 laps for adults and 12 for kids is FALSE ADVERTISING. First of all, they count by the first person to 14 laps, so if you are at the end of the line getting started, or if you happen to go when someone with a lot more experience goes and gets 1st place- you're screwed because you will end with 12 laps if your lucky.

Someone in our party had car number 31 (which is suppose to be their fastest) and it broke down on 2 out of 3 races- so he didn't get to race for 5-7 laps total..thats more than $2 per lap that he lost. Everyone else had lost around 2-4 laps each race.

They should ether make it so they pull each person aside individually as they complete their last lap or do it by the amount of minutes (ex: everyone gets 15 minutes to complete the most laps they can) that way you don't lose money with their ludicrous system.

ON A GOOD NOTE..their ladies bathroom is clean...everything else left a terrible taste for all the customers involved.

A simple basic "register closed" sign could have helped that but they must not have those.

Then after standing in the new line and getting to the register finally, we were told we then needed to go and register at the computers. Finally after all the paperwork was completed and I was in line for the 3rd time, I was ready to hand my 100.00 to them only to find there was a 1 hour 45 minute wait and there was probably only 15 people total in the whole place?. Of course this was also after my 5 year old who was right at the 48" mark on the wall could not drive. Of course they don't have double rider carts so he couldnt participate at all and took it really well, for a 5 year old, that he couldn't drive or even ride.

So long story short! We won't be going back EVER!
