Where are we going today?

Are you excited to visit one of the MOST visited museums in the entire state of Florida? Let's go...or rather...shall we fly?

The National Naval Aviation Museum is the opposite end of the museum spectrum. It's certainly not a dusty, don't-touch type. In fact, THIS museum is jam packed filled with interactive exhibits, amazing collections and other activities that older children will adore.

There is SO much to do and see at this incredible museum. Kids can learn al about the rich history of Naval Aviation, and actually get to see up close over 150 restored aircraft, that all represent the Navy, the Coast Guard Aviation, and even the Marine Corps.

With 350,000 sq ft of exhibit space, there is plenty of room to house them! There is even a HUGE 37 acres outside just waiting to be explored too!

Kids will love to discover the interior of some of their favorite aircraft by visiting the Cockpit Trainers Exhibit on the Second Deck of the South Wing. And it's so interactive!

The family can climb inside these cockpits, move the control stick, flip switches, and pretend that you are actually flying! The playing of radio transmissions heard by actual aviators approaching an aircraft carrier add to the experience!

The National Naval Aviation Museum also have two state-of-the-art MaxFlight Simulators.  Under your control, these one-of-a-kind simulators are capable of air-to-air combat and stunt flying. How cool is that!

Combined with patented, fully interactive 360 degree pitch and roll technology, kids and adults are sure to agree that MaxFlight is one of the world’s most exciting indoor attractions!

Don't miss the Motion-Based Simulator is a five-minute, multi-sensory experience that combines a movie-like audiovisual presentation using a high-definition projection screen and surround-sound, with the motion of the ride compartment.

We haven't even told you about the IMAX Naval Aviation Memorial Theatre, that is ten times bigger than a normal screen! PHEW!

Last week, took my son and our friend's son to see the Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola. We loved it!

In addition to the numerous antique aircraft and great exhibits, they also have an IMAX and two sections for flight simulators.

The guided tours are highly reccomended.

I'm sort of a history buff so I really enjoyed all the airplanes and exhibits.

They even have a German ME-262 jet fighter, only one of a handful left in the world. Very neat.

We arrived a bit late and only spent about 2 1/2 hours at the museum before they closed

Our tour guide was great. I saw two of the aircraft I flew in years ago. The IMAX was awesome. Everyone was as cordial and helpful. We had such a great day we visited again the next day.
A spectacular tribute to naval aviation and to those who fly for our country.

Absolutely amazing. Great exhibits. Plenty of things to do and see. Great place to take the kids. There are several cockpits that you can actually climb in and get pictures and the like. There are so many planes to see, I can easily spend a week there to read all the information. You can get up close to the planes and look in all the nooks and crevices and crannies.

Free admission on top of it, what is keeping you from going?

If you love history you must go here!! All the planes are beautiful and all the exhibits are very nice. It has simulators, IMAX theater, model ships, fighter and other type cockpits to sit in, restaurant, An actual tower off an aircraft carrier ( would be nice to be able to enter it though) jet and other engines some cut always on display, and a LOT of aircraft and helicopters (mostly aircraft). That's just some of the the things that are there I haven't mentioned everything. I've been here a number of times and enjoy every visit!

My advice would be to go early in the day (because there is so much to see).

If you are driving in from Destin or Panama City, leave early in the morning. It is quite a haul (but well worth it)
