Rented Front Row Seats on E. Harvest St for the third week in Oct 2014. The house had obviously structural problems as the floors were sinking downward and not level. That made sleeping on a sloping bed in the master bedroom a problem. Found dead bugs on top of the sheets in the second bedroom. The tub faucets in the first bathroom had no fixed stopping point and they turned 360 degrees making use of the water difficult to figure out. Stains on carpet in bedrooms. Deck was dirty. Very old and used pots and pans. Overall, a poor rental which shows neglect.

We have been renting the same property (Dunes Lantern unit 301) for 4-6 weeks each year since 1998. Obviously, we have dealt with Seaside Vacations since the property owners contracted with them to manage this property approximately a decade ago. Seaside Vacations has been excellent to deal with, and the property has, until this year, been perfectly maintained and spotlessly cleaned prior to our entry. Emergency repairs (e.g., shattered shower door, fallen overhead light, leaking sliding glass doors, non-working stove burners) have been dealt with promptly and professionally. Staff has been friendly and eager to accommodate our requests. This year, however, we have experienced a few minor lapses on their part. The high turnover rate in staff in the Seaside offices appears to result in inexperienced young staff and/or poor communication between staff members. E.g., we originally reserved the condo for two weeks, but later decided to extend our stay an additional week. This resulted in considerable confusion in the Seaside offices regarding housekeeping and the assignment of a keyless door entry code that would work for the entire three weeks. Multiple phone calls and conversations with multiple employees accomplished nothing. Despite repeated assurances, we were locked out on the Saturday morning at the end of two weeks, Many of the reviews posted this season have related horror stories about the state of the properties on check-in. The cleaning of our condo, while not terrible, certainly was not as thorough as in all of our previous visits. E.g., when we checked in in May of this year, the shower in the master bath had considerable black mold growth along the tile/floor tray joint. This was quickly dealt with with a quick spray of Clorox Clean-up, but the growth we found on check-in in September was 100 times worse. No one cleaning a bath could possibly overlook it. Two drenchings with full-strength Clorox were required to knock it back. Obviously, this didn’t happen overnight, but was the result of lack of attention for considerable time. We found personal items that had been left in the condo such as items under the sofa that indicated that those areas had not even been vacuumed. While these lapses are minor, they do indicate that there is a problem with housekeeping at Seaside and that the horror stories reported in other reviews may not be exaggerations or “over-reacting” on the part of the renters as claimed by Seaside staff. Hopefully, this company will be able to improve their internal management to return to being a more efficient and effective firm that clients look forward to working with.

Property Owners Beware. This company is having major growing pains and it is reflected in management of our property. We arrived for our owners stay and had items completely missing from our property. The exterior of our home was damaged and not reported. Every billing cycle our bills/payments were wrong or we will billed another property’s service fees. We only caught the mistakes when we realized our home did not have guest that week so how could their have been service calls made. Trying to get ahold of our property manager was impossible. We would leave voice mails, emails without response. Finally after mid week of my owners stay I showed up at the office to get assistance from someone. We are happily paying a new management company a higher commission rate on our property for better management. We did love our outside cleaning crew they hired and our home did rent all of the open season after reducing the price in May. But that’s about the only positive thing I have to say about this rental company.

We stayed in a wonderful 4 bedroom home (Terrill) right on Virginia Dare Trl. Even with the red flag days most of the week we had a wonderful time being able to just cross the street and spend the day playing in the sand. The house was clean and comfortable and we didn’t have any major maintenance problems. This was my first time being in charge of renting a vacation house and Seaside Vacations made it simple and easy to understand and make payments. I would defiantly recommend using Seaside Vacations to rent a wonderful vacation home.

Rented a vacation home with seaside vacations in September. I paid in full for the home on my personal credit card and my name was the only one on the rental agreement. We had another couple meeting us in the outer banks to vacation with us and help split the cost. We were not able to make it to the property until around 5:00 on check in day. The other couple had come down early and we were all to meet up to check in. I spoke with the other couple when we were on the way down and they wanted to go ahead into the property which i was not okay with and i said so. Since my name and credit card when on the rental agreement, I foolishly assumed keys to the property would only be given out to me. All they had to do was go in to the office and give the property name and the staff gave them the entry code to the property! They were not asked for identification nor was i contacted. When I arrived at the property I was disgusted to find the couple with the car unloaded and in the property! When i contacted the office about this they said that they were not to be blamed, and how were they suppose to know that the couple wasn’t suppose to be in the property, to which i was blown away to even hear something so ignorant. So that whole situation blew up and the other couple left the same day leaving us to vacation alone in a 5 bedroom home and foot the entire bill. As the week continued on we found ants in the kitchen, a rat in the grill, and the pool had a major leak somewhere that would lower the water level below the jets over night despite filling it up every day and the one DVD player in the whole house didn’t even work. At the end of the week when i called to say we were leaving a day early and it had been the worst vacation for everyone. They responded with blaming me and the owners for all the problems when they should have taken responsibility for the mistakes made by there staff and offered some sort of compensation. WORST VACATION RENTAL EXPERIENCE EVER! I DO NOT RECOMMEND SEASIDE VACATIONS TO ANYONE!
