Where are we going today?

Of course science is fun! Do you think it's boring to experience hurricane force winds in a Storm Center? Do you think it's boring to dig for fossils right near a giant megaldon shark? Or do you think it's boring to test your pilot skills in a cockpit simulator?

Of course not - but it's all science!

The Fort Lauderdale Museum of Discovery and Science will give the whole family incredible interactive fun when visiting all of the exhibitions.

The EcoDiscovery Center lets you take a ride on the Everglades Airboat Adventure - did you think you'd be doing that on a trip to a museum!? You can also enjoy the playful side of some river otters, or check out some of the exciting theater shows.

The other interactive exhibits have a host of animals waiting for you - that's right - animals! You can see sharks as well as the largest living Atlantic coral reef that's in captivity right at your feet, or you can hang out with bats (of course you want to!).  There is a 12 foot snake (eek!) as well as pet alligators, turtles and iguanas. (Don't go getting any ideas now!)

You can learn all about those famous Floridian Everglades in the Living In The Everglades exhibit, or you can discover space as you take a simulated trip to the Moon or Mars! Pretty crazy! The Discovery Center is designed specially for kids under 7, so make sure you really get the most out of it!

And of course, no trip to a museum is every complete without experiencing an IMAX film, and the Museum of Discovery and Science is no different! Take in the BIGGEST screen in South Florida, at a whopping 5 stories high! They also have 42 speakers. You read that right. 42. An incredible experience!

So...are you ready to discovery science? We bet you are! The Museum of Discovery and Science is waiting for you!

We have visited MODS at least a half dozen times in the past couple of years. Fair for a first time visit, but noticed some of the displays/interactive that were not working more than a year ago are still in disrepair. Also, told two separate employees that the filtration in the turtle tank was too strong and turtles were unable to swim near it without getting pulled toward grate and stuck. Went back recently and there's a new turtle. What happened to the other? Won't go back, can't believe someone hasn't figured out the issue with this habitat...Read More

If you are debating - Yes or No - DO IT! We took two of our visiting Grand children - GREAT DAY! Many things to do and they worked - some of the stuff was over our heads (

Mine too!) but so many hands on activities that the action became the FUN

The place needs to be updated. We took our 2 young children. Half the stuff in the toddler area was either falling apart or not working. The 3 areas that were working were overrun by kids too old to be in the area. The place is so big and there was a lot of wasted space between exhibits. The dinosaur/fossil exhibit was awful. It's in a back corner on the 2nd floor. My kids were disappointed. The best place was the planes and simulators. Overall, it's lacking and feels old, stuffy in areas and very dirty. Bring your hand sanitizer!!

It is okay, there is a ton of space for more. I think the price is a bit high. I also think that too meny of the displays focus for the younger audance then adult audance.

However, all this can be forgiven, what can not be forgiven is that in the gift shop they were selling "healing" rocks... at a science museum.... what the bleep? When I called the person (Kevin Stradtnar) who runs the shop he said that those sell well, and to "look on the internets" (I kid not about him saying internets!) to see if the rocks really do work. "What is your scientic...Read More

"What is your scientic proof?" I asked- he of course had none- he cared more if it sold then if it was anything to do with science. This man should be fired, and this item and all other nonsence should never EVER be alowed near a science place.
