Directions

Conveniently located only about 80 minutes from Denver and Estes Park, the Poudre offers some of the closest, most exciting, and still somewhat unknown, whitewater rafting in the state. The river starts in the snow capped peaks of the Rocky Mountain National Park near Estes Park, then twists, turns, and tumbles through cliffs and rock spires. It's almost continuous rapids keep your adrenaline flowing, and the chances to see eagles, deer, black bear, and big horn sheep will keep your eyes open.

Doing our bit

Mountain Whitewater Descents believes that environmental sustainability must be at the core of our business. The function of our business depends upon one our most precious local resources, the Cache la Poudre River, which in turn depends on the variable snow pack in our region. Snow pack in Colorado is a resource that is greatly impacted by carbon outputs and global warming. Therefore, we must strive to utilize these natural resources without causing a negative impact and try to influence others to do the same. Along with sustainability, raising appreciation for our environment is also vital to our success as a rafting company. In fact, appreciation of resources and the importance of leaving a minimal impact are so important to us that we discuss it in every paddle talk to all of our guests. Taking our guests rafting on a “Wild and Scenic” river coupled with Mountain Whitewater Descents’ philosophies makes for a perfect opportunity to educate guests to make good environmental choices themselves. We can be optimistic that after spending the day in a pristine canyon like ours, anyone can find a good reason why we all need to reduce, reuse, and recycle. Maybe our guests will be excited to improve their stewardship practices when they get home and certainly when they return to any wilderness. .

Can I get one of those?

We have t-shirts, hats, photos, DVD's, picture frames, child sizes, baby clothes, magnets, coasters, pint glasses, books, mini-paddles, and much more in our retail shop..

July 2014. Did the full day trip and it was worth it. Our guides were very experienced and made the day enjoyable. Highly recommend over other rafting companies in the area as our trip was much longer and hit many more higher class rapids. I would come back.

We had our wedding with MWD. They were amazing to work with. There were about 40 of us that went rafting the morning of the wedding, and we rented the property for the evening to do the ceremony. We had about 100 people join us and they all said that it was the most memorable wedding! Laid back and so much fun. We called it our family reunion style wedding. I would highly recommend MWD to anyone wanting to have a non-traditional wedding. I can't say one bad thing about any of the employees there. Awesome company. They all just wanted us to have fun and for the day to be all that we had hoped our wedding day would be. We had so much fun that everyone wants to join us on our annual rafting trip!!!
I can't say enough good things about them!!!! Thank you everyone at MWD!!
