Skid this hill for 2 years while in college in Vt. When there is fresh powder it is the best place to ski. It has a great small mountain vibe. Lots of great skiers boarders here. If you are hardcore, you will love it. It is the antitheses of Stratton.

only 1 lift at this mountain, and it broke down while we were on it, and we were lucky to get down. Lift stayed closed for 5 days. Had to fight like hell to get a partial refund even though we only skied down 1 time and we were stuck on the lift for 1 hour.

The terrain and snow are excellent, everything else is not. We had discount tickets, they would not let us use more than 1 and gave us a hard time with that 1. They have no mirrors in the bathrooms, and parking lot is tiny and a long ways off. Prepare to hike to the lodge.

This is my favorite ski resort, for many reasons. It's close to my heart because I grew up skiing here (grandparents built a house off to the side of the trails when it opened in the early 60s), but also because it offers an unparalleled skiing experience. It's a trip back in time, when skiing was all about the challenge and adrenalin of the sport, the connection with nature (without all the glitz and overdevelopment of many resorts today), and the friendships of the ski community.

Have only skied here a few days, but really like the terrain and vibe of Magic. One non-detachable lift, minimal snow-making, large chunks of the mountain intentionally left un-groomed combine for a simple yet fun day. Magic has some of the steepest pitched slopes I've found in Vermont and makes a great complement for Stratton and Bromley.

Best area in southern vermont hands down. You have to try it to believe it. How any small area can ski so big is amazing. Cheap, friendly, what else could you ask for?

One friend who likes Magic (again the mountain is great) skis with a rope at all times, because he has gotten stuck on the lift frequently enough and has lowered himself down from the chair lift.

This is my favorite ski resort, for many reasons. It's close to my heart because I grew up skiing here (grandparents built a house off to the side of the trails when it opened in the early 60s), but also because it offers an unparalleled skiing experience. When there is sufficient natural snow, this is hands-down the best place to ski on the east coast; ok, well this place and Stowe. The steeps here are legit, the terrain and expertly-cut trails are phenomenal, and the crowds are non-existent. Without much natural snow, it's tough to enjoy the full potential of Magic, because they don't have the snow-making capacity/resources that other places do, especially on the steepest trails.

What else does Magic have that is impossible to come by these days? The best ticket prices around. So in conclusion, please don't come here because I don't want it to get over-crowded ;-)
