Where are we going today?

There is SO much to do in West Virigina - it's an amazing state! But did you know there was so much to do...UNDER Virginia? Yep!

Lost World Caverns are 120 feet below the surface of the earth, and when you get down there it will reveal an amazing wonderland of stalactites, stalagmites, and other amazing formations created millions of years ago!

Discovered in 1942, the Lost World Caverns really is a magical place for family members of any ages. They offer self-guided tours so you can just take your time as you explore all of the caverns. The average tour lasts about 45 minutes, but feel free to stay longer!

The great thing about the Lost World Caverns for kids, is not only are they super fun to explore, but they can also learn all about the caverns history and geology at the same time. You will get given a guide sheet that will tell you all about the different formations, so try and spot them as you make your way around the 1/2 mile loop.

Know what else is fun about the Lost World Caverns? They're underground - which means it doesn't matter what the weather is, you can still explore them knowing it will be a constant 52 degrees.

There is more to the Lost World Caverns too than just the caverns. The caverns as we know were formed millions of years ago, and do you know what else was around millions of years ago? Dinosaurs! Spend some time in the fun dinosaur museum and learn all about the T-Rex, the Triceratops, and other species of these amazing creatures.

There is even the remains of a prehistoric cave bear that was found in the cave. So much to learn about!
