Where are we going today?

Did you know that Lost River Cave is Kentucky's ONLY underground boat tour? That's pretty impressive! What's even more impressive is that this family day out adventure is so much more than an incredible tour of a natural wonder!

Lost River Cave also has a seasonal butterfly habitat, nature trails, treasure mining and a kids cave crawl - sounds amazing!

First - that underground boat tour! This tour starts with a fun stroll through the valley as the guide tells you all about the blue hole, and those mysterious disappearing Civil War soldiers - strange!

Then, you board at the cave entrance (don't forget to duck your head!) and then you head into an enormous cathedral-like cavern. Spend some time looking around and see how wonderful nature really is!

You can also kayak the cave, which is a unique experience for the family, and kids can enjoy the Discovery Cave Crawl, great for birthday parties!

Also at Lost River Cave, those nature trails are great to stretch those legs, as there are nearly 2 miles of easy walking trails to enjoy. You can enjoy blue holes, a natural spring and even limestone bluffs. Try and spot the remains of a stone building that once stored dynamite!

The natural spring is a 1/2 mile walk from the visitor's center, and it's the perfect place to dip in your toes on those hot summer days.

Those budding geologists in the family can pan for a gemstone or fossil treasures too! They might find Amber, Quartz, Amethyst or Pyrite. Kids will even receive a key card so they can identify their new found treasures!

Adventures all round in this Kentucky GEM of an attraction!

While it is very nice to have a cave that you can view and tour, the tour was SUPER short and not worth the amount of money paid! The tour guide was great and all staff members were very nice (the only positive). We purchased the kid combo where they got a ticket to do the boat tour and a bag of dirt to sift thru and find jewels. The jewel bags were pretty cool actually (positive). BUT the kids wanted more and we noticed on the brochure that a fossil bag was offered. Went to the gift shop and saw that the fossil bag was larger than the jewel...Read More

Very relaxing boat tour. Only took 1 hour. So if you want to kill time for a while around bowling Green KY, I totally recommend this! $15 per adult. Tour goes every hour or half an hour. Each tour can hold about 30 people. A little chilly in October. Probably nice and cool if you go in Summer.

Amazing time, tons of photo ops, we even secretly ghost hunted while on the boat tour. No jacket necessary. Really cool place great for kids. Ducking down while on boat for about 15 sec might be a lil freaky to phobia people but not bad.

Went to the gift shop and saw that the fossil bag was larger than the jewel bag and thought that was worth the increase ($6.95 for small jewel bag, $11.95 for fossil bag). The fossil bag was a RIP OFF! Shells I could find in a creek and about 10 shark teeth (that could be purchased MUCH cheaper at a gift shop in Florida). The kids probably got 30 jewels in their jewel bag ranging from really large to pebble size. The fossil bag, maybe 1 large "shell" which broke very easily and multiple shark teeth and some things that didn't match the brochure guide to match what was in your bag. If you visit - you will be excited with the majority of their gift shop item prices as they are very reasonable for places like this. Just don't expect much from the boat ride or the fossil bags!
