Have stayed here many time and I love lake Catherine. Stayed there over the weekend and still loved it however it was quite bothersome to have people walking through your campsite that you have paid for and reserved months in advance. Literally every 5 minutes someone was walking up on us like they owned the place and were mearly letting us stay. Hard to relax and enjoy your time with no peace and privacy. This is not the managements fault though its rude people that obviously need a good swift kick in the you know where

The best state park that me and my family have ever went to. We had three people and our dog, so it cost a little more for the cabin that allowed dogs but it was amazing. The scenery was amazing especially in a boat on the river. Great park, friendly people, and the best park we've been to yet.

Stayed a week in August in rustic cabin #16. It was clean but small. One very small place to hang clothes. Two nightstands with one drawer each. That's it. Kitchen was well stocked with small appliances and gadgets. Large bathroom with big shower but tub had a dirty ring. Lots of stair steps from the street to the cabin. Lots of stair steps. We brought too much stuff for that many steps. Staff and rangers were very courteous and knowledgable. Swim area is clean and roomy but the water is very cold. I don't know how to fish these big impound lakes so even though there are fish in the lake we could only catch little bait-stealers. We had a good time riding around in our little boat though. Very pretty scenery and nice houses on the lake. You have to drive 15 to 20 miles to shop at a decent grocery store so I would recommend shopping before you get to the park. Diamond head resort is only two miles away. There is a grill and bar that is available in diamond head.
