Where are we going today?
Here's a fun fact! Did you know that the "Intrepid" is actually a National Historic Landmark? It is! And now you can learn all about it, and explore it, at the Intrepid Sar, Air & Space Museum in New York State!
The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum is solely dedicated to all things science, history and service when it comes to that famous, and important, aircraft carrier.
As you make your way around the museum you'll be face to face with original artifacts, interactive exhibits and even historic video footage, which will really bring the museum and the story to life.
The actual Intrepid was launched in 1943, and fought in WWII. It actually survived one torpedo strike and FIVE kamakaze attacks! After a stint in the Cold War AND Vietnam War, it served as a NASA recovery vessel. Now, it sits on the Hudson River where you can explore it as part of the museum - fascinating!
There are pretty incredible sights for kids, especially if they love plans and rockets! They can see the actual Space Shuttle Enterprise, which was a prototye orbiter than helped the USA's successful space shuttle program.
They can look at what life was like aboard the Submarine Growler, and even see close up the once "top secret" missle command center!
The museum also features the BA Concorde - used in the fastest Atlantic Ocean crossing - it only took under 3 hours. Pretty incredible!
With amazing exhibits and artifacts to really bring the history to life, the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum will be like learning, without even realizing it!
How much does it cost?

Need a little extra help?
They offer audio tours in various languages, and support all those with disabilities and their families with specialized programs. .
Can I get one of those?

My friends and I came for a free Summer movie night on The Intrepid. With beautiful weather, the ambiance is fantastic. We enjoyed music, exploring the different jets, and taking in sunset as well as the magnificent New York City skyline. All of the staff treated us nicely and they clearly knew how to organize this event. A great time was had by all!

Amazing location for a museum. Grand ol aircraft carrier, with all sorts of rooms to check out. The planes on display were awesome, loved the shuttle and concorde. Good value for your money, loved the virtual reality rides too!

Walking around the corner of 45th Street and coming face to solid slab of grey steel of an Essex class aircraft carrier is one of the most jarring and stunning experiences available in a city full of such.
In addition to being able to wander around an aircraft carrier, the museum also contains a Space Shuttle, a Concorde an A-12 and a nuclear missile submarine in addition to a wide range of other aircraft.
One can easily spend all day wandering around these incredible machines.

Absolutely amazing place to visit! A must see, even for the price with so much history. The Space Shuttle pavilion with Enterprise is a sight worth seeing!
