Where are we going today?

Are you excited to explore the WILDEST place in Waikiki! It must be Honolulu Zoo, of course!

Here, the whole family can explore the 42 acres that are home to 905 different animals from the tropics. It's certainly an adventure!

A day at Honolulu Zoo is never dull. There are so many amazing creatures you can come face to face with, study, learn about, watch, be entertained by, and perhaps make friends with!

Kids can meet their favorite animals, and perhaps learn about some they have never heard of before! You can even imagine you are on safari on the plains of Africa, watching those incredible animals move in herds.

Have you ever seen a zebra or an elephant up close? Have you ever just watched an African Wild Dog, or seen how impressive the African Lion really is?

Maybe you want to spend the afternoon with the Malayan Sun Bear, or learning what a Domestic Zebu is!

From Aardvarks, to llamas, to Dik Diks, to lemurs....Honolulu Zoo really is a great place to learn all about the amazing animals of the world - without leaving the island!

Let's not forget about those reptiles and birds too. The zoo is packed with frogs, swans, tortoise, kookaburras, geckos, ostrich, lizards, and even alligators!

For a bit of a change, why not explore those wonderful plants in the Zoo's botanical garden? Kids can learn what plants are not only native to hawaii, but also have a strong importance to the Polynesian culture.

With a playground for those active kids too, it's certainly a WILD day out in Hawaii! ROAR!

Ive gone to better zoo's. To begin with half the animals where either not in the exhibits at all or hidden away. Did get to see a small handful of animals wich barely made the $14 entrace worth it. Also they had multiple snack stands closed it seemed like half the park was out of business. Its an ok distraction but its kinda small should take around 2 hours to tour the park if you want to kill some time. Definitely would recommend the aquarium it's way better and cheaper. Over all I would not go back until they actually get animals in there exhibits...Read More

This was a great zoo! Apparently it used to be a bird park to display the Hawaiian King's bird collection. We went during what is probably considered the worst time of day for viewing (around 11-2, the hottest hours) but there were still plenty of animals kicking around. There were plenty of interesting exhibits; however, don't expect to see much if you go to a live feeding at the reptile house. So many people crowd around the small tanks that it's almost impossible to see. I ended up watching it through somebody's iPad (I guess they were filming...Read More

Great burger with fries at cafe. Lots of turtles and birds. Hard to see hippo and lions. Can walk through most within 2 hours. Parking $1 per hour.

It was not expensive to go to the zoo, right off the beach, easy to get to. It was a nice distraction, we walked, enjoyed the weather in late November, and all around had a good time. We had water, but there are public fountains to drink from. A good mix of animals in the zoo, nice family atmosphere.

Also, bring lots of cold water and sun screen. It's a fair amount of walking in the sun. They have a couple stalls open for refreshments but of course their prices are pretty high.

The zoo also has a playground for kids in a shaded area in case you need a break.
