Really a big thing! They have a sign “don’t miss Homosassa springs SP” on their side entrance. It’s the best I could say: nice, clean, variety of animals, not only show, bit a preserve park and worth the 13 Dollars per person ( I didn’t claimed the AAA Discount because I would have donated it anyway).Been here now for several times, but always go in when I’m in the area. Hot tip: before Christmas they have an unbelievable illumination (takes weeks of preparation!!) and some great shows- for just a donation of 3 p. P.. Wonderful!

We loved visiting this state park. We went on a somewhat chilly and blustery day which actually ended up being a perfect activity since crowd levels were low and park volunteers were up in number for answering questions or helping out. There is a fee to enter the park but ask about a AAA discount. We took a boat ride from one end of the park to the other, crossed a street and were suddenly in a beautifully landscaped park. The animals featured in the park are there for rehabilitation and are all local to the state of Florida. That is except for Lu the hippo. He’s there under special circumstances, which they will tell you about when you visit the park. The springs feature visiting manatees and a lovely place called The Fishbowl. The Fishbowl allows visitors to walk down stairs to view the fish life from under the water without getting wet. Visiting this park allowed us to see alligators, manatees, otters, black bear, fox, wolves, flamingos, owls, eagles, reptiles, and all manner of shore and other kinds of birds…all local to Florida. It was one of our favorite parts of our vacation.

We had a great afternoon! Really nothing negative I could say. It was a little more expensive than most state parks I’m used to ($12) but its more comparable to a zoo or something so considering that perfectly great bargain. From seeing the fish and manatee in the “fish bowl” to the butterfly garden, watching boaters cram into the river on a holiday weekend, Lu the Hippo, the bobcat, Florida panther, black bear, swans (with babies that my wife fell in love with), alligators (no biggie for us Floridians but still), foxes, wolves, owls, reptiles, bird aviary and pond, etc etc. Very very fun.Nice ice cream at the concession stand near big Lu really hit the spot on a hot summer day. We’ll be back for sure…. next time with our little one!

My husband and I visited the park on April 11, 2014 and found it to be truly relaxing and beautiful. We were thrilled with the exhibits and hope that at one time, anyone visiting in the area, will make an effort to visit Homosassa Springs Wildlife Park.

All of the 171 FL State Parks we have seen are beautiful but HSWP stands out as being the best. Truly love everything about this park. It deserves an even higher rating.
