Where are we going today?
Consisting of 6,150 acres with two miles of sugar white sand beaches. Gulf State Park has a Campground, Cabins, Cottages, Trails and Fishing Pier on the Gulf of Mexico! We also have an interactive Nature Center, Swimming Pool, Tennis Courts, Beach Pavilion, 18-hole Refuge Golf Course, Snack Bar, Geocaching, and 900 Acres of freshwater lakes for fishing in our Picnic Area on Lake Shelby.
Gulf State Park offers a 496-site campground with 11 modern bathhouses. The campground is approximately 1-1/2 miles from the Gulf beaches. All camping pads are paved with larger lots for RV's with pullouts. Tents are welcome and all sites have water, sewer and electric. In our campground there are a number of activities and facilities to entertain our guest. Some of the facilities include the Campstore, Laundry, Swimming Pool, Nature Center, and tennis courts. Weekly activities are posted throughout the park that offer free guided tours and environmental educational programs. For those interested in Geocaching, there are plenty of caches to be found, including one of the Alabama State Park Challenge caches.
The Refuge Golf Club is Gulf State Park's 18 hole, Championship Par 72 Golf Facility. This course was designed by Earl Stone in the 1970's and has beautiful grand, live oaks, small lakes, and mature long leaf pines. While at the Refuge Golf Club guest can enjoy the Refuge Grill, a fully stocked Pro shop, and driving range. Throughout the year, our Pro-golfer offers kid's workshops.
One of the Parks greatest attractions is the new saltwater pier. It is the largest pier on the Gulf of Mexico at 1540ft. The pier offers indoor retail area for tackle and souvenirs, comfort stations at the midpoint of the pier and wheelchair accessible rail fishing. The pier has 2448 feet of fishing space available along the rails.
Along the beach, Gulf State Park has a beautiful Beach Pavilion that has a large concession stand, open on a seasonal basis. The pavilion is perfect for family picnics, outings, reunions, beach parties and more.
The Picnic Area on the shores of Lake Shelby is a perfect place for family fun. This site includes the swimming areas in Lake Shelby, a new Hummingbird Zip line, and several covered pavilions. We also hope to offer kayak, and canoe rentals in the future.

This is one of the nicest park for the price we have stayed in. We have camped in just about every state and RV much of the year, this place is top notch. Huge sites, nice pool, great location, walking distance to the beach and tons to do in the area. Stayed for a month and booked for another two months next year. The monthly price is very good and next year is only $475 for a FHU including elec.

Very nice park, Has many things others do not. But the wi-Fi is not useable at all. Unless you are able to log on to one of the few AP slots that they have.
I was there for two weeks and was not able to log in even once. The ranger says when all the Ap slots are used no one else can use it. So bring your own on don't plan on being on the internet.
