Where are we going today?
Everybody hears about why we need to look after our planet, but at the Great Lakes Zoological Society, they SHOW you. This way, kids can understand first hand why wildlife conservation is so important to everybody's future. And it's a fun place to visit because you get to see lots of neat animals!
Their main exhibit area is a very cool laid out 5000 square feet of interesting species that kids can get right up close to (they are behind glass, don't worry!)
Have a look at the lizards as they are looking around for their next meal, watch the snakes as they slither along the ground, or perhaps try and spot the sweet little turtles hiding in their shells.
With every species, kids will be able to read signs featuring information and fun facts, as well as some of the animals individual stories. This way they can connect more to each one! (We can't promise they won't want to take the home at the end of it!)
What is great about this center, is that most of the animals came to them as rescues, and now they are in their permenant home. By reading the stories of these animals, kids will come to understand why it's so important to look after them, and care for them as they all have a place in our very awesome world!
If you want a "wild" birthday (ha...get it?), they can help orgnize a very memorable adventure for your birthday! Not only do you get to celebrate your birthday with all the usual party room celebrations, but you also get a private (and hands-on) animal presentation! Perhaps you want to pat a snake on your birthday? Never say never!
They also offer summer camps, field trips and classes.

Doing our bit
The society works hard to look after these animals, and if you would like you can financially adopt one or offer a one time financial donation. .
Do great unusual birthday parties: for the price of admission, they will reserve the classroom for you for one and a half hours and offer three, 6' tables and 25 chairs for your party. During your party they will offer an interactive presentation with six to eight reptiles that lasts up to 30 minutes!.

A very nice, clean, and fun place. Animals were very cool, unusual and exotic! It was very fun to see the gigantic tortoises eating salad. There is everything from creepy spiders to giant lizards. It took me about a half hour to walk through the whole place. For $7 a person, it was well worth it. Overall, a very fun place.
