Grand Caverns are not only stunning, but they are also America's OLDEST show cave. When you visit, you will see why they are so popular!
The Grand Caverns were discovered way back in 1804, when a man named Bernard Weyer was retrieving one of his traps (see kids, you're learning already!) They opened in 1806, which is how they have become the oldest continually operating show cave in the entire country! Imagine how many families have been there to enjoy it.
Now, a National Natural Landmark, the Grand Caverns make a great day out for the entire family!
All of the tours through the caverns are guided, so you know that you will be in good hands. You will also be able to learn all about these amazing marvels of nature! The tours are perfect for the whole family, as there is only 1 mile of walking at a leisurely pace.
Fancy something a bit more challenging? How about the Fountain Cave Adventure Tour? Here you can explore the caverns like true cavers!
This tour takes about 2 hours, and is great for those who love a bit of activity in their day! There are opportunities to go climbing and crawling, but of course those who don't fancy such an adventure can stay on the 1800s path with the guides.
Armed with helmets, knee pads and gloves, you will be in for a treat!

Grand Caverns FAQ’s
You can't bring strollers into the caverns, but you can leave it at the building entrance and it will be looked after
Make sure you arrive 15 minutes before your tour if you are on the final tour for the day. The caverns are cool too, so bring appropriate clothing!
There is a gift shop with a host of items, from stones to shirts, rocks and minerals, as well as educational items and souvenirs!
They love to have school groups visit! Make sure you book 2 weeks in advance!

The caverns have steps so you do need to be able to walk a mile to enjoy them
