Where are we going today?

You hear stories of men and women travelling across country trying to find their fortune in gold, and now YOU can try and find your own gold and gemstones just like they did!

Gold N Gem Grubbin is a super fun way to spend the day with the family, and you never know what you are going to find! The attraction is on the very spot that those old timers fought off the Cherokee Indians in the early 1800s, so there is history everywhere - and you are becoming part of that history!

Here's a fun fact - did you know that there was more gold mined in northern Georgia then in the California Gold Rush of 1849? Pretty amazing isn't it!

Kids will love panning for gold and screening for those gemstones in the sluices, and all under the shade of the trees along side the 7 acre lake. Not a bad spot to find your riches!

The trained staff at Gold N Gem Grubbin will be on hand to help you identify what you find, and evaluate them for cutting. Want another reason why kids will love it? They guarantee you will find something - now 'dem good odds y'all!

Some of the gemstones families have found including Emeralds, Topaz, Rubies, and when you mine at the creek you might uncover some artifacts that date back to the mid 1800s when the 'ole timers did hydraulic mining in the USA's FIRST Gold Rush.

Add a picnic lunch, and you have yourself a hot diggity gold mine of a family day out. Let's get panning!

So much fun!! Went with my dad, sisters and nieces and nephew that were here on vacation last week. What an amazing fun time. The kids, ages 9 to 17, loved it. And us adults as well. We all got very competitive to see who could find the biggest and prettiest gemstone. The young lady working was very nice. They have services on site if you want to have your stones cut and polished and mounted. We only did the gemstones and did not try the gold panning at the creek. Will most certainly be doing this adventure again!! If you come to Atlanta,...Read More

Went here yesterday with my husband and daughter and had so much fun. We were originally planning on mining/panning by the river but it started thundering as soon as we got there so we got a bucket instead. We ended up finding a ton of different gems.. amethyst, rubies, sapphires, and a lot of others. The young woman at the shop was incredibly helpful and friendly. She helped us identify our finds and explained the differences between what were gems and what were just rocks. They even let us stay a little after their closing hours because we were...Read More

Had a lot of fun. We did the pre-mined large gem bucket shifting and we also did the gold and gemstone panning down by the creek... while it was fun being in the creek water we did not make out with anything exciting like we did with the pre-mined bucket shifting, just a bunch of rocks, albeit pretty rocks, just rocks. We will go back but only for the pre-mined bucket shifting because we got several huge pieces of beautiful gemstones. Worth the 1.5 hours drive from Decatur/Atlanta drive! We don't have kids but lots of kids having a blast there....Read More

We stopped by this place on a family vacation. I spent a ton of extra money on purchasing a dirt bucket which supposedly held gold nuggets. We didn't find enough gold to even come close to justifying the price tag. That being said, we paid very little for the gem bucket and came out with some real winners including a very large piece of jade which was valued higher than my living room set. The buckets are seeded, so each one is a winner. Being that my jade was so large, I don't think it was supposed to be in there. We came across a bunch of nice...Read More

Great fun for the whole family!!

Next time, we are planning on camping there (it's also a beautiful little campground) so we can spend a couple of days trying our luck at the river.

We came across a bunch of nice stones and I had a set of jewelry made for each of my family. It is a great story to tell when you dug the gems up yourself (OK I mean sifted) and had it made into jewelry.

My advice is to go get yourself a nice big gem bucket and have a relaxing morning sifting through the rubble. I loved it and so did the family.
