Directions

They are located just 38 miles north of Tampa and 63 miles SW of Orlando!

From Orlando, take Florida's Turnpike north to Hwy 50, and go left for about 40 miles to Hwy 301. Then left here and go 4-5 miles to Mickler Road. After about 1/4 mile and over railroad tracks, they are on your right.

Where are we going today?

It will just like being in Africa - only in Florida! Giraffe Ranch is a beautiful wildlife center set on 47 acres of wonderful countryside, and they want to share it with you!

It isn't a zoo or a theme park - you won't see animals in cages.  Here, they are free to roam happily about in what would be similar to their natural habitat, so kids can encounter them and watch them and all their natural behaviors.

The area is not just animals - the ranch with its huge live oaks and native orchards, is also a wildlife preserve, and even 200 sandhill cranes roost on their grounds every night!

The ranch offer two tours a day - 11am and 2pm, which are limited in size and by reservation only. These tours and fun and educational, and will take your family out on an intimate safari expedition which will be led by experience driver-guides in 4WD safari vehicles! Just like out on the plains in Africa!

Each vehicle has shade canopies, so don't worry about being out in the sun in the middle of the day.  During the tour you will learn about the native and exotic animals, and their habitats as well as witnessing the ongoing conservation efforts with endangered species (some that are even extinct in the wild!)

The safaris give kids close, hands-on experiences! Ever wanted to feed a giraffe, or pet a camel? Here is your chance! You might also be able to ride the camel - pretty exciting!

You can (safely!) get right up to a rhino, and even a sweet pygmy hippo.  What do they look like up close? Are they what you imagined?

They have a working herd of Austrian Haflinger horses, and tiny irish Dexter cattle - with one of the largest herds of these sweet little cattle in the whole of Florida!

The animals are waiting for you to say hi and feed them!

We had a great time on the tour! Feeding the Lemurs was really fun also, they are so sweet and cute. I highly recommend visiting here and supporting the reserve.

This is the worst kind of tourist attraction, a farm trying to supplement income by giving tours but no idea how to run a business. Spoke to the owner twice to arrange a visit, each time the policy changed. I was told to leave a message to confirm our reservation, which I did. I was told our time slot was available. But apparently more expensive private tours" will bump you off the schedule as we found out after driving an hour and a half from Orlando. At no point did they offer to accommodate my daughter or myself in anyway. We were told the only...Read More

I go to parks (disney/ seaworld) because my daughter loves them. I know the animals are ambassadors, but always feel sorry for them and don't like to go! I could not put a finger on the reason that i was feeling different about this place, I was asked what i like best and said the lemurs, but realized later the reason! These animals love to be here!!! They absolutely LOVE their caretakers!! They live in a place that puts all the effort into keeping the animals happy and healthy and from going extinct. Not only would i recommend this experience...Read More

The Giraffe Ranch was a great experience! The tours are reservation only and are small, so you have an intimate experience with the animals. We especially liked feeding the ring tailed lemurs, and I would very much recommend adding this on to your day at the ranch. The couple that own and operate the ranch have a great deal of knowledge about the animals, and you can tell that they don't do it for the money. Rather, they have a genuine interest in the animals and are their protectors and champions. All in all, a lovely way to spend an afternoon....Read More

January, 2014. Had an absolutely wonderful time at the Giraffe Ranch. So much better than any zoo or other wildlife sanctuary I have been to. As you listen to them
talk, you just KNOW how much the owners love the animals and the animals make
it abundantly clear that they love the owners. Just a delightful, close-up experience
where the animals roam on 47 acres of beautiful wetlands. Diane K. Sun City Center

Before being turned away, the owner said she would check her schedule and call us back. We never received another call.

Poorly run business, money-hungry owner chasing bigger dollars. She'll lie straight to your face. Save your money and go someplace reliable.

Not only would i recommend this experience i would hope that all zoos and parks would take a page from this book and look to the animals and letting people connect closely with them! All the animals have a story and personality that never come across in a regular zoo!! I would highly recommend this to anyone that loves animals. I will tell everyone this is a must see experience!!
