My kids love Zoos, we are members at the Hogle Zoo in Utah which is part of the reciprocal agreement with a large list of zoos including this one. We like to visit zoos whenever we travel and have visited many around the country. Our membership usually gets us in for half price at participating zoos. I was very pleasantly surprised to find that Dickerson Park zoo improves on the agreement and allows reciprocal members from zoos more than 5 hours away in for free.

My son loves this zoo and we visited here almost every weekend while I was stationed at Fort Leonard Wood. The facility is old and some animal exhibits could use some improvements (i.e. fence with ditch instead of cage, an aisle between giraffe and zebra so that we can see them from different angles, but who has that money these days right ?), but overall, a very nice place to bring children and spend weekends. Giraffe feeding area is great.

Love this place! Great place to go and take pictures of the animals! The zoo is always clean, kept up well, the animals seem happy and the staff is great.

My kids insist on visiting every once in a while. They have their favourite animals here and think of the visit to the zoo as of visiting a friend. This is so cute, I cannot say "No" even when I am fed up with it all.

The zoo itself was pleasant, we went on a Tuesday and there were very few people there. They have a pretty good variety of animals, probably one of the smallest zoos we have been to, but still quite a good variety of animals. My kids particularly liked the petting/feeding area and being able to feed the giraffes.

My only real complaint isn't really the zoos fault. it rained while we were there and they stopped running the train. We would have liked to ride it, but it was still closed when we left even though it had stopped raining for a while. Like I said, not really the zoos fault, just bad timing for us.
