Where are we going today?

The Delaware Art Museum welcomes well behaved children to enjoy the visual arts on offer. This museum is particularly known for it's collection of British Pre-Raphaelite art, but there is a wide range to explore so something for everyone's taste.

Kids' Corner is a space just for smaller folk where they can touch and interact with the art on the walls and make some of their own.

It regularly presents major traveling exhibitions, offering the community an opportunity to become familiar with a wide variety of artists and artistic movements. The Museum also displays smaller exhibitions, often assembled from its permanent collection, to complement larger shows or to bring select works to light.

I love this art museum. It has one of the finest small collections of American art in the world and a superb Pre-Raphaelite exhibition, which rivals the best in Great Britain. But canned music! When we're trying to stop pubs and restaurants bombarding customers with somebody else's selection of music, we're supposed to absorb great works of art with soothing music going on in the background. This is music that anaesthetises the brain. It puts you to sleep. Yet they think it's a suitable accompaniment to people responding imaginatively (or trying...Read More

When we're trying to stop pubs and restaurants bombarding customers with somebody else's selection of music, we're supposed to absorb great works of art with soothing music going on in the background. This is music that anaesthetises the brain. It puts you to sleep. Yet they think it's a suitable accompaniment to people responding imaginatively (or trying to respond) to paintings. I haven't encountered this in other galleries or museums so I'm in a state of shock. Shame on you Delaware Art Museum.
