Where are we going today?

The ocean is a magical and mysterious place, and Dana Wharf Sportfishing and Whale Watching give families the opportunity to experience the marvels of nature first hand!

First up - fishing trips!

For all of those fishing lovers in the family who thought ocean fishing was something just for professionals - think again!

These guys can take you out any time of year, on a group fishing tour, and it doesn't matter how young or old you are, or how experienced you are.  From the novice in the family to the seasoned angler, they will look after you!

The types of fish you will catch vary on the season and the water temperature, but if you are lucky you could catch Halibut, Sand Bass, Yellowtail - or even Tuna!  The fun part is not knowing what you are going to reel in!

There are 4 boats that you can choose from, and all offer a tasty full galley with hot and cold food, and a variety of drinks.

Don't have fishing gear? No problem!  They have them there to rent!

And from the little fish to the big fish - Whale Watching!

Seeing a whale in the wild for the first time is an incredible feeling,  and from October to April your family can get out onto the ocean waters and get up close with these magical creatures!

Depending on the season you could spot Minke whales, Humpbacks or even the mighty Blue whale - that's the worlds biggest mammal!

These 2 or 2.5 hour trips might even bring you close to playful pods of dolphins and sea lions, as well as other marine life.

An incredible experience with nature!

I booked a 3/4 day for myself and my boys taking advantage of the Half Price Tuesday Deal. We really enjoyed ourselves and had a lot of fun. The boys had never been out on a party boat before so they were very excited. I was happy to get back on the Boat Clemente again. Marcus (First Mate) and Kyle (Deck Hand) are always more than helpful and very patient when assisting with untangling lines, hook removal and just general knowledge of how to rig up to catch fish. The Tuesday trip although a great...Read More

My daughter and I wanted to go deep sea fishing on a 1/2 day venture and chose Dana Wharf Sportsfishing. We are so happy for that choice! From Tony (the captain) to Mike (the deck boss!) to Shane (awesome cook and deckhand) to Kyle and John the other helpers, they all showed us (newbie fisherwomen) how to tie the knots, bait the hooks, reel in properly, etc. We loved our experience so much, we came back a few days later for a longer trip. We were so excited to get the same crew...Again, the crew was awesome, very helpful, engaging, entertaining,...Read More

Well fishing with Dana Warf for many years now and if your a seasoned fisherman you can still get skunked .......... but when El Nino comes in ........ WOW ! ............ I've been lucky over the years and hooking Dorado and better several times .... On this one trip a local 1/2 day I was in the jackpot again not unusual for me ..... but this time the fish I was competing against was overweight a Calico against a hefty Mackeral ..... upon closer inspection I witnessed the Deck hand pull lead weights out of the winning fish while the winners...Read More

Although my wife and I live in Dana Point we had not gone whale watching yet. Our experience on the Dana Wharf's luxury catamaran was wonderful. Many whale sightings and dolphin sightings.

The crew was knowledgeable and courteous. We will be going again when the blue whales migrate.

    Thanks,
    Dan & Sheral

The Tuesday trip although a great deal is usually a full boat 40 + people so be aware of that...but honestly the boat with the help of the crew makes it bearable..its not that bad..I look forward to our next trip !” Less

We fished and didn't catch, but many of the other fishermen did.
We will definitely return and can't wait to do it all again. Hopefully, we can get the same crew.

On this one trip a local 1/2 day I was in the jackpot again not unusual for me ..... but this time the fish I was competing against was overweight a Calico against a hefty Mackeral ..... upon closer inspection I witnessed the Deck hand pull lead weights out of the winning fish while the winners watched I protested. . . . . I was ignored IT SEEMED THAT THE WINNERS WERE FRIENDS OF THE DECKHAND ............ I COMPLAINED TO THE MANAGER WHEN WE DOCKED BUT NEVER RECEIVED ANY SATISFACTION ................. I stopped patronizing Dana Warf since and I can only write this in hopes that any of you who have had a bad experience with Dana Warf write a review ..... FISHING IS A SPORT . . . AND FOLLOWING THE RULES OR LAW ARE JUST HOW IT WORKS YOU CAN'T TEACH GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP ONE DAY TO A BUNCH OF KIDS FISHING AND SCREW A FISHERMEN THE NEXT . . . . BUT THATS HOW DANA WARF DOES DO BUSINESS . . . . . the regular fishermen know that deckhands favor friends and even family on various trips been going on for years . . . . I have won more jackpots then I can count over the years and have had some great fishing days on all the boats out of Dana Warf I know for a fact that there are others out there with stories that are worse than mine so those of you who know write in and stand up . . . .
