Learning can be fun, and at the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History you will experience it first hand!
The museum has a host of exhibits with different themes that kids can really become immersed in. They can learn about the seeds and crops - and how they all work together to create the foods they know and love. Ever wondered what Corpus Christi was like before it became the city is it today? Just head on down to the exhibition that documents they city's transition from an old west trading post! Truly fascinating!
Did you know what the oldest scientifically excavated shipwreck in the Western Hemisphere is? The Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History will tell you - because they even have a section of the ships wooden keel and silver and gold found in the cargo! (Little fun fact - it was wrecked in 1554!)
Love space and geology? Head to the exhibit which explores the rocks and minerals of not only South Texas, but the meteorites that fall from the sky!
Kids can take a look at the creatures and landscapes that make up the Texan coast, with an incredible range of shells - from the teenie tiny to the giant clam.
Love the Universe? What about the NANOverse! That's right - rather than looking deep into outer space far, far away, why not look at everyday objects zoomed in up to 500 times! An amazing new perspective!

I am literally looking for everywhere I can leave a review on this place! When I was a kid my mom and dad used to take us here all the time, mostly to take up some time (well spent, might I add) and to get out of the Texas heat. Recently I followed suit and took my 8 year old niece here. I wasn't sure how that would go because she is more of a non-stop, hands-on, running around type of gal, and this was an 'educational' experience. She absolutely loved it here! Most of this museum unfortunately doesn't seem to be maintained hardly at all, and I couldn't guess as to when it was last updated. It's larger than we expected when we came in, but there were lots of items that had fallen off on exhibits or into the bottom of cases, buttons that were supposed to effect the exhibit that did not work, and generally a disappointing collection for adults or children. With a major renovation this might be a nice museum but as it is now it was very disappointing even for the $9 admission.

They have a great number of exhibits aimed towards kids and an awesome play place that still features hands-on, educational activities. What I expected to be an hour (tops!) outing turned into a 2.5 hour+ expedition. Kudos to all of the fine folks who have kept this place up and running and hope to visit more!
