Doing our bit

Green Design is an important feature of the Visitor Center at Como Park. The interior walls are made of a recycled wood product. Photovoltaic cells help provide shade over the new Fern Room and offer a source of renewable energy. The photovoltaic project was funded as a demonstration project by Xcel Energy. .

Very fun place to go and loved it. Free to get in and worth donating to feed the animals. Only complaints I have is the food is expensive. That money collected is not going to help the animals. It was $5 for small bag of donuts and $5 for a glass of pop. Really $10 gets me a much larger meal at McDonald's. I recommend bringing your own food. Also the exhibits that are inside are too small that its always crowded which makes it hard to see the animals and the halls smell really bad of body odor. Otherwise a great adventure all around.

What a FUN zoo! My family is spending the summer in Minneapolis and with 3 kids I have been looking for fun, and cheap activities to keep us busy. The Como Park Zoo was a HUGE hit with my kids. They loved it. It's small enough that we can get through it all, yet big enough that you can see a lot of animals and really enjoy your time there. They have tables set up at some of the exhibits for the kids to learn more about the animals and my kids really liked the Gorilla table. The worker was super knowledgeable and enjoyed answering my kids questions....Read More

The worker was super knowledgeable and enjoyed answering my kids questions. We did the shuttle and it was so convenient! The shuttle bus was decorated like a giraffe, which my kids LOVED, and dropped us off right at the front of the visitors center. We went at lunchtime so my wife packed a lunch for us and we ate it in the picnic area of the zoo. The kids liked having a picnic while enjoying the wonderful Minnesota weather! We are definitely coming back several times this summer. So much fun!
