Where are we going today?

Can you feel that southern charm and hospitality yet? If you can, you must be in Charleston! It's an amazing city, and what better way to really get to know it than to tour it! Classic Carriage Tours will take your family around this city that was settled all the way back in 1670. So there's a lot of history to take in!

If you're a visitor to the city, you're in for a treat of all the things you wil learn and experience! If you're a native to Charleston, they live like a tourist for the day, because we KNOW you will see your city from a whole other angle!

Experienced tour guides from Classic Carriages will join you on your tours, who can share their immense wealth of knowledge with you, and answer any questions you may have! They can even give you some fun tips on where else to go in the city.

The city is incredibly historic, so it seems very fitting to experience the history on those classic horse drawn carriages! As you're pulled along, just imagine what the city might have been like centuries ago. What do you think the people and buildings would have been like!

There are a number of tours you can pick from, and the most popular is the Standard Tour (because those kids under 3 ride free!).  If you want a specific history covered, then the Slavery to Freedom Tour might be for you. Here you can really learn about that era of history within the city, but it might not be suitable for the younger children.

If you love learning about the Civil War, there is a tour all about that infamous period in American history, and there are also evening carriage rides if you book in advance!

History is waiting to be uncovered with Classic Carriage Tours!

It doesn't matter which horse drawn carriage ride you take, they all have the same stupid system. It's not their fault but Charleston's way they make them do the tours and not all tours are equal! If you wanted to take a few carriage tours, forget it. You might see the same area twice. Until the tour starts (all tour operators remember have to follow this insane rule) they stop at a booth with their passengers on the carriage (no escaping at this point) and draw which area their group will tour. I believe there are 4 area's and I only wanted...Read More

We chose this company at random and it was aperfect decision. Our tour guide was an absolute expert on Charleston and southen history. I know southern history fairly well and learned a lot from our guide. He also worked well with our meandering horse "Carson". My wife and I have enjoyed a number of carriage tours, including many in our native Louisiana, and these folks are tops! I highly recommend using this carriage tour company.

PS - Classic Carriage should give the man a raise!

Whether you're in Charleston for a day, a month, or an extended stay like my wife and I, take at least one carriage tour. I can definitely recommend Classic Carriage. Our tour guide was a South Carolina native, and clearly loves living here. What's more, he clearly loved our horse, always addressing him in a gentle but firm tone. It was an hour well spent, I will definitely do it again.

Everyone I spoke with said we HAD to do a carriage ride tour. I thought they were nuts but obeyed. We took a 9:30am tour today and it was so worth it! Tim was our guide and Kevin was our horse. I can’t remember which number tour was picked for us in the lottery but it was perfect! Went down Rainbow Row and then down by The Battery and all through the residential area. Tim was beyond knowledgeable and had many stories. I learned far more history in this tour than I ever did in school. Make your reservations online to save the $$ and enjoy!
