Where are we going today?

Want to extend your family day out into longer? You might need a family RV park to do that! If you're in the Wilmington area in North Carolina, then check out Carolina Beach Family Campground!

This nature filled RV park is just minutes from Pleasure Island, which includes Fort Fisher, Kure Beach and Carolina Beach. It's open all year round, so you don't have to worry about restricting your holidays to summer either!

If you're just interested in a tent, or traveling in a full motorhome, they are happy to accommodate you!

The campground itself is surrounded by trees, so there are beautiful shady spots to enjoy the day from. It also means there are plenty of places for the kids to run, play and hide! Carolina Beach Family Campground also has a large in-ground pool with a fenced sun bathing area which is open all day in summer, which gives the kids a safe and healthy environment to splash around and cool off in.

If you have a boat, or you're a keen fisherman, then you are right by the ocean AND a river, so you're just a stone's throw away from your favorite water sports! Swim in the ocean, or spend some time out with your rod trying to catch dinner. The day is yours!

Why not also spend the day out at the waterfront parks just a block away. There is parking, and grills and picnic tables to enjoy the afternoon with the family.

Carolina Beach Family Campground is also decked out with the amenities you need from a campsite. With a laundry, general store and washers, not to mention wifi, it makes your stay super comfortable!

Family owned and operated for 60 years, they are also the largest and oldest campground in the entire country! Pretty impressive!

My husband and I had a very bad experience here at Carolina Beach Family Campground. We will not be returning, and we recommend that everyone should avoid this campground.
We reserved our campsite online, and everything online looked great! Reservations went smoothly. But when we arrived, we found the Entrance Sign advertising the facility to be in disrepair, causing me to wonder if the place was still in business. But it had to be, since we made online reservations, right?

I have to put at least one star because google wont allow me to publish with zero stars. This was probably the nastiest place I have ever seen (this is after multiple trips to third world countries) we were supposed to stay the weekend. After pulling in, I didn't even want to stop unless I had a biohazard suit in the truck so we turned around and left for Holden Beach. I would have honestly been afraid to leave my camper there unattended. Agreed - google should have listed this place as a dump not campsite. Manangement need not respond you...Read More

This is ground zero for the impending zombie apocalypse. This is simply a piece of wooded land that someone thought would be a good place for a campground. There is supposed to be cable and WIFI but neither worked. The actual cable lines from box to box were not buried and there were several that were cut from being run over. I was 20 ft from the WIFI access point and the speed was so slow I couldn't even check the weather. There were people living in run down campers. There was a "permanent" tent set up with a pleather couch under a shade tarp.The...Read More

I was there two weeks and "it was quite and relaxing for me".. seemed pretty clean from what I could tell. The owners were friendly the few times we spoke, so over all it was a pleasant stay..just as good as most any other campground I've stayed in.

So, with trepidation, we entered to find an unkempt area in great disrepair. The fences dividing us from other properties were falling apart. There was what looked like an old junkyard filled with odds and ends, like used tires, around the property. The office was unkempt, dirty, cluttered, and not well stocked. It seemed to be a very old setup. We did have a friendly older man check us in and so we cautiously went to our campsite.
Our campsite was hard to find, since the many of the campsite numbers were missing from their posts. It was difficult to distinguish which site was which. Our site, once we found it, was ambiguous. There were no clear markings as to where our site ended and another site began. We were not sure where to pitch our tent for this reason. Also, none of the sites had fire rings. Instead, people just made a fire on the ground at their site wherever they saw fit. It was so bad that the picnic table that we were told was on our site looked like it belonged on the site next to us.
There were multiple RVs on site, some lived in, some not. Some of the RVs were clearly moldy, with green mold covering the outsides of them. Parts of Carolina Beach Family campground appear to be an RV graveyard in our opinion.
The men’s and women’s bathrooms both had a backseat from a car in them, for a sitting area. The men’s room was dirty and smelled permanently of cigarette smoke.
We set up our tent, since it was getting late, and we have to be at our work assignment for the evening (this was a business/vacation trip for us.) Once our evening work assignment was over, we left to find other accommodations. We found a lovely KOA campground nearby. Even at that late hour, they quickly got us a site that was clean and well cared for. The entire grounds at the KOA was ABSOLUTELY clean!!!
Once securing new arrangements at the KOA, we next returned to Carolina Beach Family campground to take down our tent. However, what we found turned our stomachs!! While we were gone, a cat sprayed and peed all over our tent!! The smell was beyond offensive!!! Even after washing our tent with soap and water, we could not use our tent at the KOA campground due to the horrid smell. Management at the KOA told us that other individuals THAT day had also gone to Carolina Beach Family campground, with reservations, looked around, and then left and came to the KOA to stay.
After all this, we decided it best and only fair to explain our concerns to the management at Carolina Beach Family campground, and ask to see if they could compensate us in any way for the two nights we paid for but we unable to stay at their site. I spoke with a woman on the phone. She explained that stray cats were not theirs and so therefore Carolina Beach Family campground was not responsible for our ruined tent. She seemed to give us the impression that stray cats were a frequent visitor at this campsite, something we have NEVER experienced with other campgrounds that we have stayed at. However, the woman said that she would talk our matter over with management and get back with us by 10:00 am the next day.
By 11:00 am the next morning, I decided to call them, since no one from management had contacted me. I was told that management said “Absolutely No refunds,” and that was all they had to say.
DO NOT GO HERE-unless you want a vacation nightmare!!

This is ground zero for the impending zombie apocalypse. This is simply a piece of wooded land that someone thought would be a good place for a campground. I was 20 ft from the WIFI access point and the speed was so slow I couldn't even check the weather. There were people living in run down campers. There was a "permanent" tent set up with a pleather couch under a shade tarp. The spaces are extremely small and they are "awning to awning" so you face the person next to you and my awning was about 6 inches from the person next to me. There was a campground next to this one called Water Way Campground. We rode over to look and it was no better. The only thing separating the two was a chicken wire fence. My advice is go to the state park.
