Buffalo Bill Dam is a HUGE construction feat, and you can visit to have fun and learn all about it at the Buffalo Bill Dam and Visitor Center in Cody!
See the dam up close as you walk all the way along the top of the dam. If you're facing east, you will be looking down 325 feet into the Shoshone River below! Facing west, and you get to see the Buffalo Bill Reservoir - bring your camera, there are some amazing views!
When you see the dam, you might just wonder how it was built, so just as well the Visitor Center is right there to tell you! Inside, you can see a host of exhibits that talk about the construction of the dam, as well as information on wildlife in the area, the geography of the region, and even history of the area with prehistoric artifacts!
Take the time to stop and check out the mini theater too, where you can see a short film on the building of Buffalo Bill's dam, and learn how important it is to the way of life in the area.

The Buffalo Bill Dam Visitor Center (BBDVC) is located 6 miles west of Cody on the way to Yellowstone National Park, at the Buffalo Bill Dam (just through the tunnels).

Check out the Buffalo Bill Dam, its water irrigation system, and walk through the 'interpretive areas' to learn about the benefit of the dam for the Big Horn Basin area. This includes seeing working models, videos and native animal taxidermy.
Bring your own packed lunch and drinks or visit one of their local vendor stores.
They offer a complimentary shuttle to take you over from the parking lot to the visitor center in one of their golf carts.
Books, mugs, shirts, travel items, gifts, and much more are available to purchase as the shop!
