It may be a little too late. But when you live in the 5 Boroughs, and so close by there is such an amazing place (i admit that flower will always be my weakness;), it is hard not to visit there every day.
The best time to go there is of course the spring time, but the place is so relaxing, quiet and colorful, that you will enjoy it every day during the year.

I have been to this Botanical Garden twice so far. Once during the cherry blossom and again in the autumn. It's was stunning both times. The garden offers a variety of different areas, like the bamboo forest, or the cherry tree lanes and the rose garden. they also have an area which represent the natural forest environment of the NY state area. During this time of the year its literally glowing in different shades in yellow and orange. Just amazing.

Sakura Matsuri cherry blossom festival is the place to go every year in Brooklyn Botanic Garden. The Botanic Garden has wonderful bonsai tree collection and a huge greenhouse to discover wonderful plants. My favorite part of the garden is the cactus collection and the tulips of different colors near the waterfall.
