Where are we going today?

Learning and play at the same time? Yes please! At the Bridgeport Discovery Museum and Planetarium, they make learning fun! They make learning about SCIENCE fun!

There is 20,000 square feet of exhibits which are interactive for kids, as well as that 124 seat planetarium. The exhibits cover a range of fascinating and diverse topics, ranging from energy, power to art.

The very visually exciting Energy Exhibit uses videos and dioramas to show kids where we get our electricity from, and more importantly, how we can use it wisely! Get Physical is a great exhibit where kids can learn all about why it's important to keep our bodies healthy, and Sports Science is great for active kids who want to try shooting hoops with different backboard shapes, and they can also measure how high they can jump - NBA you better watch out!

For those very little kids up to 3 years of age, there is a whole Preschool Power exhibit with colorful, soft play structures which have been carefully designed to teach them age-appropriate motor skills.

The lower level is all about space! Kids can touch a piece of a real meteorite that fell to the earth about 50,000 years ago, or even drive a remote controlled rover across a simulated landscape - of MARS! Ever wanted to see what you would look like in an astronauts spacesuit? Jump in the life sized replica of one that actually went on Apollo 11!

There is so much to see and do, and even adults won’t be able to help themselves, and will come away learning something new too! Science can be fun at the Bridgeport Discovery Museum and Planetarium!

Very disappointed with the museum. Used to bring my charges there when I was a nanny. It was really fun and there were lots of hands-on exhibits to keep the kids busy for hours. Took my kids today and aside from the Planetarium which was interesting and fun, the place was dirty, with many broken exhibits and nothing much for the kids to play with. The few interactive areas were either missing pieces or completely broken and unusable. The Guitar exhibit was interesting for the adults, but the kids could care less about it as there was nothing for...Read More

They have rotating exhibits. They have a grant to expand the museum and they have great exhibits, such as an outdoor tree climbing exhibit. I will be back!

They have finally started to upgrade after so many years! There doing a great job of it. Only down full it helps the older kids learn more not the younger ones.

My son is 2 and 1/2. He asks to go to the Discovery Museum every day. It is more interactive than any other museum. We belong to most of the local membership places including stepping stones, maritime and the zoo. This tops them all for him. occasionally one of the exhibits is not working, but I am not surprised considering how handled everything is. It's not the prettiest museum in the world. My son has learned so much there though, about cause and effect, gravity, energy, music, wheels gears and pulleys. I think Discovery Museum is phenomenal....Read More

The Guitar exhibit was interesting for the adults, but the kids could care less about it as there was nothing for them to touch, everything was behind plastic cases. I bought a membership planning on taking my kids there often but it this is all there is, it was money wasted.
