First of all, I want to say that reviewer Martha Washington is a moron. The bears are in concrete structures with just one other bear (usually two in each enclosure). They have small pools, a climbing tree and the food they are fed (by the public) is very good apples and fresh bread. I have been to the bear park on several occasions. I applaud the owners for their valiant efforts. We visited another bear park in Tennessee that wasn't half what this place is and charged three times as much.

The animals appear to be well cared for and healthy but the conditions are deplorable. If you think this is ok ....try to imagine being locked in your bedroom for the rest of your life!

So glad to hear this place closed down and all the bears have been relocated to a Sanctuary in CO, 60 acres of property to live out their days.

I agree with the last commenter, these bears have been rescued and would have been put down if the owners of the Black Forest Bear Park hadn't stepped up. Clearly they are getting plenty to eat...they are all pretty tubby...and their enclosures are very clean along with their mini-ponds. I think they are very well taken care of.

On to the actual experience; how awesome is it to have some big ole bears interact with you... they reminded my wife and I of our dogs, they would wave as if to say "Hi" one even climbed his tree structure about 8 feet...Read More

I don't know the owners and I don't have any ulterior motive, but I'm appalled at the destructive criticism!!!
The owners of the Black Forest Bear Park have given their hearts to the animals for over a decade.
I toured the Park... Admission was bear minimal ($5 and $1 for a tray of food).
The overhead (building, electricity, water, chemicals, MEDICINE, FOOD) has to be astronomical.
The owners took on an enormous emotional, physical, mental and fiscal responsibility; and yeah, bears can be dangerous... a playful bear may unintentionally hurt...Read More

Yes the place isn't huge, but remember its only $5, and feeding the bears for a buck is a blast, easily the most fun my wife and i had while visiting Helen.

If the owner(s) had not rescued the 'trouble bears' (i.e., raid campgrounds, etc.); they would have been destroyed!
I want their efforts continued and not destroyed.
If they don't care for the bears... Who will?
