That iconic image of the airboat streaming through the everglades is one that is on the list of many families.  Head to Billie Swamp Safari, and that's exactly what you will be doing!

Kids will love getting lost on the 2,200 acres of Big Cypress Seminole Indian Reservation and learning about the swamp and all the creatures and critters that call it home!

For those kids 4 and over, you can explore the "River of Grass" on the infamous airboat ride trail. Fish, turtles, alligators (eek!) and snakes (double eek!) will be waiting to say hi to you as you zoom through the swamplands. The guides will teach you all about the environment and the habitats of these wonderful creatures, so it's not only fun (very important!) but a great learning experience for kids. They will also love being introduced to the "other" Florida. 

No theme parks or beaches here!

There is so much wildlife in these parts of the state that of course they want to teach you all about them. You can stroll the grounds and enjoy the displays and exhibits in the park, such as the bird and reptile exhibits, alligator pits, and the very cool named African spur thighed tortoises! You might also want to pop in and say hi to Liberty the Panther.

Take a walk along the boardwalk nature trail that will take you deep into the swamp, and kids can learn the history of the Seminole Indians in their authentic village. 

Billie Swamp Safari also put on fun shows, like the critter show where kids can check out some of the animals in their uncaged presentations, as well as non-venomous snakes in their Billie Swamp Safari Theater. (Oh, did we not mention you will learn about venomous snakes too?)

Fancy seeing the swamp in a new light (or lack there of...!) Billie Swamp Safari offer one hours night tours and fun Native Campfire Storytelling where you climb aboard their Swamp Buggy and take to the everglades by moonlight.  What wildlife can you spot? (Hint...it won't be just snakes...you might see water buffalo, bison, and deer - even ostrich!)
