The water park was very fun. There was not a big crowd and I really enjoyed myself. The only negatives…some of the lifeguards were completely rude and refused to help those asking for help. I guess they forgot that the money we pay to enter the park contributes to their paychecks. Also, some of the workers in the concession stands were not using gloves. I saw one worker pick up a slice of pizza with his bare hands and put it on a plate to hand to a customer. I would return to the park but I will not buy the food and wish some of the lifeguards were a little more friendly.

PLEASE CALL 911 IF YOU GET INJURED IN THE PARK….NO MATTER IF FIRST AID AND LIFEGAURDS ARE THERE HELPING YOU OR NOT!!!!!!!After being a local for 4 years, I was excited to finally take my children to Big Kahuna’s this summer with a special they were offering. A group of my family went and we rented a Cabana. Toward the end of the day, I fell and got injured on a slippery area. I went head first into the lazy river going down the cement stairs and hitting my head on the cement wall. I was really banged up and very bloody. I could barley walk. Lifeguard and First Aid came and bandaged me up the best they could. A few days later I had to end up going to the Dr. Since then, I have called Big Kahuna’s and spoke with the employees and managers (who have all been VERY rude to me, by the way) about me having to go to the Dr and what I needed to do to get compensated for my medical expense since I fell on their property. I was referred to the corporate office that is in California, under the name of, Palace Entertainment. I talked with corporate and sent them all the info they asked for. Corporate told me that Big Kahuna’s did NOT have an accident report showing that I fell at all, but that they would investigate it. I have now gotten a letter from corporate saying that not only do they NOT have any record of a dangerous fall or what have you, but they do NOT even have a record of my visit at all on that day! I have my tickets that were scanned and stamped, I have receipts were I bought food IN the park and we rented a Cabana were we had a personal server….but there’s no record I was even there at all that day?! I am out hundreds of dollars from the Doctor’s visit and somehow they are hiding the fact that I was even there in the park. I am at a complete loss. THESE PEOPLE AT AND OVER THIS PARK ARE NOT HONEST AND WILL NOT HELP YOU IF SOMETHING HAPPENS!

Update 07022014. I bought 6 season passes and have been a few times now. I’m going to keep the rating a solid three. The park is dated and you don’t have to look far to find something to complain about. Overall though, I found Big Kahunas to be the best value for our family on the Emerald coast. The lifeguards are vigilant and the water is clear and those are my two most important requirements. With regard to the the water rides, don’t come here if you’re in a hurry to get down stream, but if you don’t mind floating around a bit until there’s enough of you to make it over the next hump, you’re good. I went with a solid three because the bathrooms are certainly gross and the employees seem to be all business with no use for pleasantries… Every time I saw management, they were hoofing it somewhere, but I never saw any of them greet one guest… The kids (29,22,10,& 8) all had fun and yours probably will too, but don’t expect perfection here… I was going to buy a few season passes this morning as I live locally. I then saw the review tab and decided to give a click and memories from the one trip I took to Big Kahuna’s last year with the children flooded back into my mind. The price of the season pass nearly had me anyway, then I dug a little deeper and found the rules on bring a friend and the mention of black out dates…. Additionally, I believe management’s lack of concern for customer complaints is a direct reflection of the numerous complaints on this site. Taken collectively, my family will be making the short drive to Panama City’s Shipwreck Island… However, I will continue to hope for better reviews next year… Giving a 3 rating was the only way not to skew the 2.9 review average. Update: Kids vetoed my venue change… Will edit soon with an accurate star rating and comments… Keep checking back. 4 annual passes purchased… Get your, “I told you so’s ready” =)
