Where are we going today?

Big Al's Vancouver offers classic family friendly tenpin bowling with light balls and ramps to help give younger kids a chance.

Bowling is good low impact exercise, offers practice with numbers and is a chance for the family to play together.

There is also a large family arcade on site with a mixture of skill, novelty and redemption games to keep most ages amused.

Went to go bowling yesterday and the bowling area was nice. Some workers in the food area were very rude. They told us that they would bring our food to the lanes we were at, but they never did and our food was sitting in the food area for like an hour. We got cold food and they didnt let us get new food.

This review is of the service, since the facilities and food are decent (hence 2 stars).

Got here early, waited in line to be told there's a private event going on that ends in 45 mins - we registered for our lanes and got a text message that we were added to the waiting list, so we went to have a bite to eat at the bar (which was decent, albeit splendier than the equivalent). An hour and a half later, I got a second text saying we were taken off the waiting list.

    Wtf? Seriously?

I am reviewing the bar. The rest of Big Al's is ok. I've now been to the bar twice in the last month for football. Once on Sunday, once on Monday. For both times, the place itself was great - clean, great TVs, etc. However, the service and food (both times, separate servers) was very poor.

    Some examples of what happened:

The food was bland. We had both happy hour food (chicken tenders, sliders, pretzels, etc) and regular meals (a salad and a burger). Basically tasteless.

Worse was the service. On one occasion, there was no host and we...Read More

This place has a cool bar, great setup but terrible food and lacks any service. Get your stuff together Big Al's, your food is absolutely unacceptable. I thought it was a fluke the first time I was here because the server was new but after my third time in I have decided this place needs a restaurant make over. They put chicken salad on their Cobb salad as the "chicken". Their nachos were wet and soggy their fish and chips is one disgusting piece of fish and 8 French fries that are both soaking in grease. I would expect this from a small local bar...Read More

Worse was the service. On one occasion, there was no host and we waited around - and it wasn't that busy! And on both trips, the level of service was marginal - I would say at or below McMenimins service (ouch). We had to wait for refills on our beer regularly, and at one point we had to go up to the bar to get our drinks by ourselves.

One bright spot was the manager - super friendly guy, very willing to check in on us. On our most recent visit, I think he might have actually talked to us more than our service (we were there for 4+ hrs for football).

We will not be going back. Ever.
