About this activity

How much fun do you think you can have on over 3,000 acres of state park in West Virginia? Head to Beech Fork State Park and find out for yourselves!

Just 12 miles south of Huntington, and a short drive from Charleston and Lexington, it's hugely popular with families because of the recreational activities that are on offer. Head out on the water to enjoy some boatings, or even fishing. The lake is known for largemouth and hybrid striped bass, catfish, walleye, saugeye (a cross of walleye and sauger), and bluegill.

For something a bit different, perhaps challenge yourselves with geocaching too.

There are also some great wildlife watching experiences for those keen eyes in the family - what can you spot?

You might see the migratory water fowl, or raptors, some beautiful whitetail deer, some fox, or if you're really lucky you might spot a passing black bear! The early spring brings with it the welcome call of different species of frogs and toads. It's always lovely too to wander among the spring wildflowers, which are a common sight to hikers.

A beautiful day out in a beautiful state park in West Virginia, Beech Fork State Park is an adventure in nature that has your names all over it!
