Pros:1. Awesome pool. It’s huge and has a kid play area and even a water slide. The pool itself is huge and has three basketball hoops which can be fun for bigger kids. The whirlpool is good sized and has a waterfall pouring into it. 2. Breakfast. Waffles, juice, scrambled eggs, French toast, yogurt with blueberries…all very good. The only downside was the coffee creamer…no flavors, only plain.3. Comfy beds. Quiet. One of the best nights of sleep in a while. Cons. 1. Signs of age. This hotel is in serious need of a remodel. Wallpaper peeling of the wall in the breakfast area. Rust on the steps up the waterside and in the whirlpool. Holes in bedding. VERY old tube TV’s in rooms. Creaky metal bunk beds. 2. Price. On a Sunday night, I paid over $150 for the second lowest room on the list, the family suite with the bunk bed. The room is probably worth closer to $110, especially for a Sunday. I wouldn’t recommend this particular hotel. Stay at the AmericInn downtown, but call ahead. It’s updated throughout, much cleaner, and closer to all the neat little shops downtown.

I really wanted to give 3.5 stars. The water play area really saved the hotel, plus the breakfast in the morning is always nice. The staff was helpful and accommodating, although the “lifeguards” in the pool area were pretty much a joke. The play area was really nice, my daughter 4.5 yo loved both pools. The big water slide is REALLY fast, even for an adult, and beware, you can hit the bottom of the pool easily! In one day I scraped my hand, my husband scraped his elbow and another guest badly scraped his elbow- they really need to soften the bottom of the pool in that area- put down one of those foam protective things that many waterparks have. The beds were OK, but I’m picky. The pillows were horrible. I felt the rooms were clean. Lots to do in the area and a nice central location for vacationing.

I, Jade Lee Anthony, have been to Country Inn and Suites by Carlson. I like it.

The quality of the build of this hotel was horrible. For the price I paid to stay here I didn’t expect the shower curtain to be falling down. The structural quality of this hotel is probably the worst in the area. It rivaled that of a cheap motel. For the price that I was charged, I’m sure next time I’ll just go down to the Holiday Inn Express right behind you guys.
