About this activity

Bugs are pretty amazing creatures. In fact, if bugs didn't exist, the world would be a VERY different place to live in!

Audubon Insectarium is the perfect place for families to visit who LOVE learning and exploring these little creatures of the world!

The exhibits within the insectarium encourage all of the senses as kids explore the largest museum in North American dedicated to insects! Pretty cool!

There is SO much to learn about these little creatures. Kids can learn about why insects are the building blocks of life as we know it on the planet, and they can get up close to live and preserved specimens that show how diverse the species can be! You can see a range of colors, sizes and shapes...some of them are VERY different to what you might imagine!

There are so many fun activities that will entertain the kids. They can make their way through the Butterfly Garden which features hundreds of beautifully colored butterflies, and even watch them up close via cameras! You might be surprised what they get up to!

The Hall of Fame Gallery will introduce you to all the over achievers of the insect world - from the fattest, to the smallest, to the largest...what do you think will win!? If you thought your family tree was complicated, check out the Insects and their Relatives gallery where you can see how they have evolved from all the way back in prehistoric times right into modern day.

Delve into the Louisiana Swamp gallery and explore the creatures that live there, and see how your survival skills stack up against a bugs!

The Audubon Insectarium is filled with hands-on and interactive fun for the kids - it's a bugs life!
