This Place and its employees care more about the animals than they do the people adopting them, the people that made bad reviews don't understand that. I adopted my first rescue dog from there, and volunteered for a while walking the dogs, and the staff were awesome, and Lorraine Royal is not mean or a Nazi; she is strict about who gets to adopt these animals (because some people aren't responsible enough to do it). My dog Jack was the greatest thing that ever happened to me, he has recently died, I was so sad, but I was so privileged to have been...Read More

Thank you, to Lorraine and of the other dedicated staff members at Ark of Hastings.
Our kitten was not quite ready for adoption when we met her--Ark had wisely waited to make sure she was thriving and ready for her new home. In the interim, they allowed my husband to visit her every day. We had time to bond, and she is now our little entertainer in residence. We are happy she found a forever home with us, and grateful for the joy she has brought into our lives. She has done well with our older cat, Sacha. I am currently gathering pledges,...Read More

Animal Ark killed an 8 month year old puppy because this dog had resource guarding issues. Aka Biting issues. Which means its new owner tried to take a toy or food away from the dog which upset the dog. The dog is a puppy and puppies don't know better unles they have been trained that guarding things aggressively is not ok. Instead of traning this puppy Animal Ark put this dog to death. Animal Ark is a no kill shelter they should have helped this dog through training but instead decided to order it to death.

My sister and I went in to adopt a cat, we found two that we liked. After filling out the application (which had the most ridiculous questions on it itself), we were lectured about declawing (which we informed that we were not going to do anyway), then they had to call our landlord. We were then informed that we had to drive an hour home to get our lease, which states we are allowed cats, instead of contacting the landlord and handling it over the phone, and drive back before being considered an applicant.

Thank you animal ark for bring us together.

This place it the most ridiculous humane society I have ever encountered, they turn you away for the most inane reasons. The woman who looked at our application was also the most rude person I have ever encountered, so even after finding the lease and a cat that I loved, I will not go back to this place. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this place like the plague.
