Everything about our week tent-camping there was perfect… except for the rodents! At every meal four or five squirrels would try to steal the food we were eating… right from our plates! At night around the campfire, we had to hold sticks to scare away the raccoons that would literally walk over our feet to get to our picnic table. I mean, we’re seasoned campers and took all the proper precautions, but these critters were crazy! The beach is absolutely amazing, however, and the general atmosphere is quiet and friendly.

Anastasia State Park is a cool place. Their activities include bird watching, camping, fishing, sun bathing, running, surfing, sail boarding, swimming, kayaking, hiking and picnicking. A nice place to stay and bond with family and friends. The park needed more trash cans for a proper disposal of waste to look more clean.

We aren’t big beach people, but we would go back to St. Augustine for Anastasia SP. We visited twice in the three days we were there, even with the entrance fee, and enjoyed an emptier, more relaxing beach experience than we could have at the public beach. The first night, there were dolphins in the bay where we were swimming, and the second day we enjoyed paddle boarding and swimming in the Atlantic. If we go back to St. Augustine, we’ll go back to this state park.
