Where are we going today?

The Gallery stands in the centre of a city recognized as a nurturing ground for artistic talent. Through cutting-edge exhibitions, we feature the work of leaders in the field of contemporary art and Vancouver's internationally renowned artists, including Jeff Wall, Ian Wallace, Stan Douglas, Rodney Graham, Roy Arden and Brian Jungen, serving as a portal for their remarkable achievements while furthering British Columbia's artistic legacy. The Gallery also houses the magnificent works of significant historical artists, including the most extensive collection of the work of Canada's beloved Emily Carr. Our permanent holdings number nearly 10,000 artworks, making the Gallery among the most valuable collections in Canada.

When in Vancouver, by all means you must visit the Vancouver Art Gallery (VAG) in downtown Vancouver. Try to take public transit because save the parking fee for your lunch money. But going to the VAG (check their website for the current exhibit) is worth your while. I go there with friends to discuss the exhibits (at times the discussion can sometimes get a bit animated and lively, but that's later in the pub).

I would personally recommend visiting the VAG when you are in town.

Exhibitions aren't fantastic, but after 5pm on Tuesdays it's free with a recommended donation.

Definitely one of my favorite place in Vancouver. The Gallery Cafe, the architecture, the rallies, this place is really a charm. I just hope the new VAG would conserve this magic in the future.
