Where are we going today?

The Unikkaarvik Visitor Centre serves as a primary interpretive and showcase centre to introduce visitors to the iconic Nunavut heritage and geography. You can not only pick up tourist advice and information here to help plan your trip but also visit a series of educational presentations, plus an introduction to the archaeological features of Qaummaarviit Park, which it borders along with Katannilik Territorial Park and Sylvia Grinnell Territorial Park.

There is also informative signage throughout the immediate vicinities of either parks, helping maintain the educational impact out into the wilds where the excitement builds.

Great HQ for family hiking and adventure.

The Visitor's Centre is the perfect place to get oriented to Iqaluit in particular and Baffin Island in general. The Centre itself features dioramas detailing the traditional flow of life for the Inuit people with excellent examples of the tools that were required. That are taxidermic and other examples of fauna found in the North and information about how these were utilized. There are also special events - regular opportunities to observe and interact with current artisans and evening talks featuring persons of local (and broader) interest that help to illuminate both past and present artistic and social endeavours. Staff are knowledgable, courteous and able to help your Northern experience be fuller and more authentic. Highly recommended.
