Where are we going today?

Let us guess - it's summer, and you just love to get outdoors and cool off with some really cool water activity?  Yes?  We thought so!

Winnipeg Canoe Rentals offers a great opportunity for the active and nature loving family to get out into the pristine wilderness and take your own time as you paddle down the clear reflective Winnipeg waters.

The friendly and energetic guides will take all your gear down to the waters edge for you, then leave you to go at your own pace along the Assiniboine River.  Float and sit back, taking in the view.  Can you spot any wildlife? For those more energetic families, you can paddle until your arms can't carry you anymore, speeding down the river as nature passes you by.

The staff then meet you at a predetermined location so you know where to stop.  The great thing is, families of all ages can join in, so no-one misses out!  Allow between 60 and 90 minutes to complete the section of the river.   (Unless you have super Olympic speed!

There are different types of canoes you can choose from - from the 8 person canoe to the traditional kayak, and you can even try the stand up paddle boards!  You need great balance for them though - do you think you can do it without falling in?!

Another reason why summer in Canada is pretty awesome!

I'm Hungry!

Well it depends on what you all want! In the longer summer days its quite easy to add a tasty BBQ or picnic at the end of the trip. So make sure to ask!.

Healthy Eating!

You are more than welcome to bring your own snacks on the trip if you want, and don't forget to bring water!.

Any Top Tips?

While the tours are suitable for all ages, its recommended that all kids under 12 have an adult in with them, just to be safe! .

More information

Don't forget your sunscreen! It can get quite hot out in the sun and we don't want anyone coming back like a beetroot! Also, repellent is a great item to bring just in case. .

I've been on two 4 day trips with Tim. Once was with older scouts from my son's Boy Scout troop and once with my family. Both times were great. There was always wildlife to see. I especially enjoyed the whales (we saw Orcas on both trips)., bald eagles and seals The camping was extremely comfortable. Sunset from Jones Island was especially memorable. The kayaks and all equipment were top-notch. I was particularly impressed by the efficient instruction we received at the start of our excursion. I have gone on three guided expeditions with San Juan Kayak Expeditions & have also rented equipment from them. I can't recommend them more. The equipment is always of the best quality, the food is great. It's well organized, great wildlife, great campsites. Owner Tim has more years paddling in the San Juan Islands than anyone else & it shows. He's so knowledgeable and entertaining. He's a hoot and his trips are great. The perfect balance of safety and adventure.

Tim gave us a buddy weekend to remember - beautiful campgrounds, great open water passage, and clarity on expectations before we arrived. It was genuine from the planning, the paddle, the stories and true belly-shaking laughter. The boats were great. The pre-paddle prep was spot on for what we needed to know. And we were a well-oiled machine by end of day one per his direction, guidance and overall assurance that we were to learn, see great things and have a true active, guided vacation. I still have visions of Tim with his storytelling stick tracing...Read More

I've been on two multi-day trips with San Juan Kayak Expeditions and both were great. The first was guided by Tim, the owner of the company. He has been kayaking in the San Juans for over 30 years. The guide on my second trip was also excellent. They use top quality, fiberglass boats. Not the slow, heavy plastic boats. We weren't lucky enough to see any Orca whales but seeing them from a kayak is the best way to do it.

Kayaking with Tim was a wonderful experience. Our group consisted of 6 women of all different abilities and backgrounds. The equipment was well cared for, we had first rate training, Tim was a personable guide, and our experience was wonderful! We did a full day trip which included kayaking several miles, a hike to the lighthouse, lunch on a remote beach, and great fun! We couldn't have asked for a better experience. And we look forward to a future kayaking trip with Tim! Thank you for the grand memories!! Next time we would like to do a 3 day trip!

And yes, I went back for more :-).
