Where are we going today?

Charmed by a character right out of the late 19th century, you will discover the luxurious interior of the "World’s Most Photographed Hotel"! However, Château life does have its drawbacks. Most often, it will be on tiptoe that your guide will allow you into its intimacy where whispers and secrets abound.

This is a beautiful old hotel with amazing ambiance inside and out! We did not stay here; but enjoyed drinks in the lounge and walking among the visitors. It's a great spot to people watch! We also enjoyed walking outside along the promenade, making our way up to the Citadel. This was a very well constructed boardwalk with terrific views of the river below.

My wife and I had our honeymoon in this magnificent hotel. This hotel is truly majestic, and guests are treated like royalty. The service was superb. Location is also central to everything in Old Town, and many attractions, shops, and restaurants are within walking distance. The restaurant in the Frontenac is a formal affair, where the tables are covered by white cloth and the waiters place your dinner napkins on your lap. My wife and I enjoyed our stay. Highly recommend staying here if you visit Quebec City.

I'm not a huge fan of five-star hotels but I was very happy with this one. On the outside, it is stunning - even in the cold, dark winter when I was there. On the inside, it is equally stunning. The food was very good and the staff were polite. The hotel dog was a nice touch too.

The hotel has its own shopping arcade, which didn't contain any shops of interest to me but it's nice to see.

The room I stayed in was one of the cheapest and it was quite small with no view. That is my only gripe as it was all too easy to compare the room to another...Read More

Stay Away from the 1608 Wine and Cheese Bar (and probably the hotel too)!

Due to construction our travel agent advised us to stay elsewhere (we did – Hotel 71 - see our review) but suggested we check out the bar for high tea or cheese and wine. So we did (Labor Day – Monday).

We entered the magnificent lobby and walked straight to the bar in back. We had been told wheat a great bar this was and to be sure to sit by one of the little tables by the window. At first one was not available as almost every table was dirty and covered in plates and...Read More

The staff was incredible! I speak absolutely no French whatsoever but they all made me feel comfortable and at home. They were understanding, accommodating, kind, and funny too! The bellman and valet men were efficient and so helpful as well. The front desk made reservations and recommendations that were perfect. As for the building, it was absolutely magical and hands down one of the coolest places I've stayed. I went during the construction and was never bothered once. I will 10000% be returning to Le Chateau Frontenac, especially to see the debut...Read More

The room I stayed in was one of the cheapest and it was quite small with no view. That is my only gripe as it was all too easy to compare the room to another hotel I'd stayed in on the same trip, where the room was three times the size for almost half the price.

Despite that, it is a great place to stay in Quebec.

At first one was not available as almost every table was dirty and covered in plates and soiled glasses. We waited to see if anyone would great us (they did not). Finally one of the two young men working the area just gestured towards a semi clean table off to the side where we sat for about 20 minutes.

After that we moved ourselves to one of the tables by the windows where we sat and waited another 20 minutes before finally getting up to leave. We thought about sitting at the bar itself where there were two patrons however every other spot at the bar was dirty. Obviously these two men working the bar do not bus their own tables and the bus person was off for the holiday! We should also mentioned we had difficultly using the IPad Menu due to a very poor wifi connection. Greta concept - but please upgrade your wifi if you actually want folks to use these in place of real menu’s.

Not at all what we would have expected of a Fairmont Property nor this bar! Very disappointing. The only good side to this is ultimately we ended up at Matto at Hotel 71 and had some wonderful wine, cheese and appetizers!
