Glenbow has a growing collection of art and objects that provide visitors with an understanding what it means to live in Alberta, but also will help visitors to appreciate the people and events that have shaped the community. It has the largest public art collection in Western Canada, with over 33,000 works of art. It includes historical, modernist and contemporary art in a variety of medias including paintings, sculptures, prints and more.
There are lots of programs and changing exhibitions throughout the year to be enjoyed. From artist talks to stories, to tours and more. There's lots to do, so make sure you check out the website before you visit so you know what's going on.
Currently they're embarking on a huge rennovation project that will transform the building into a cultural landmark, offering a more diverse collection of art and objects from around the world.
Glenbow at the Edison is in downtown Calgary, on the second floor (+15 level) of The Edison building across from the Fairmont Palliser Hotel.
