The Cowichan Historical Society owns and operates the Cowichan Valley Museum & Archives and is mandated to collect, preserve and interpret the history and heritage of the Cowichan Valley. Come and enjoy the fascinating history of the Cowichan Valley at the Museum.
They offer school and public programs, permanent and temporary exhibits and special events throughout the year. The permanent exhibits include Many Families in One House, The General Store Gallery, Jack Fleetworld Galery and the new exhibit on the Price of the Wales Fairbridge School Farm.
The archives are located on the third floor and are by appointment only, so get in contact with them if you wanted to have a look! The museums first permanent site was established in 1981 in the basement of Duncan City Hall and first opened in 1989. There are artifacts, records and materials on display all relating to the Cowichan Valley.
The volunteers on site are happy to help and all contribute their time, skills and knowledge to help you have a pleasant visit. There's a small gift shop on site too, so don't forget to drop by and see what you can find!
