I visited this zoo for the first time on 1st of March 2014. I have to say that this is a beautiful zoo with great landscaping foliage and signage. I arrived at 9am and most of the animals were active on the main zoo circuit.
The Safari is equal in quality to many Safari type tours in US zoo's that I have been to and the Iveco Truck and trailers are impressive with great commentary.
I gave a four star rating because the zoo needs 3 or 4 more exhibits on the main circuit and a few more herd species on the safari tour. As the zoo is focused on African...Read More

Had a great time at this zoo - was surprised by its size. The safari tour (included in the price) is great - leaves every 30 minutes and goes for about 40 minutes... But take a zoom lens - some of the animals like hiding in the distance. Lots of fun though :)

Werribee Zoo is a great experience for all ages, I went with my partner and we're both in our 20's. The safari is a great experience and very unique. the restaurant was high quality and the little shop was quite cute too. On the downside we got through the park very quickly.

The keepers are all amazingly friendly and always willing to answer questions with enthusiasm. We love the landscape, and the animals all seem very relaxed and as if they are enjoying retirement!

I ended up buying us annual memberships for my girlfriend's birthday.

I visit this wonderful place every 2 years! This is my 5th trip now and Werribee Open Range Zoo never fails to impress me! If you are going in a large group (at least 15+ and up), be sure to book out a "private" bus to accommodate your friends! No extra cost!

I gave a four star rating because the zoo needs 3 or 4 more exhibits on the main circuit and a few more herd species on the safari tour. As the zoo is focused on African species, I would like to see Hyena, Warthog, Baboon ,African Reptiles and Nile Crocodile exhibits. As for the Safari, a Wildebeest herd and small gazelle would fit in great and enhance the African feel.
My visit lasted about 4 hours which included two trips on the Safari tour.
Werribee zoo has great potential for the future but needs to keep building new exhibits to take advantage of the space it has and to keep zoo fans like myself coming back.
