I give a 2 for the entertainment for kids. Money trap is all the hangout is. It is a place that makes you always wait more than an hour, this last time 2 hours. Food service is limited at best, along with poor food quality. You would think ordering the mahi it wouldn't come in a card board fast food "but takes a long time to get" container. Everything is way way way overpriced. Band was mediocre.

Place gets more overpriced every year... food is not worth what they charge... seems to become more of a tourist trap to get your money every year... service well let me tell you about that... i had some idiot airhead kid about 10 years younger than me tell me she couldnt serve me a drink because my I.D. was 3 months exspired after waiting an hour just to get a drink and i had no idea it was exspired. The Hangout is located directly on the beach, in the heart of Gulf Shores. We went for lunch and had a great experience. Food was good, and while slightly above average in price, the portions are huge. Service was good, and atmosphere is lively. We were treated to a dog show on the outdoor stage while we ate.

Bar prices were about what you would expect from a beach side bar. Between $7 & $8 for most (weak & small) mixed drinks.

To reiterate, we were there during lunch. I could easily see how this location takes on a completely different atmosphere...Read More

Do NOT waste your time or money at this place; I was HARASSED by the server due to not leaving a tip because of such poor service. The food was overpriced, the drinks were hot, and the server was extremely rude and non attentive (place was not crowded, went on Monday night).

Upon leaving the place, the server shouted from the balcony and my friend and I left and stopped outside of the premises in parking lot (at the gate entrance) waiting on our other friends to catch up. The male server actually ran out of the Hangout and approached us (2 ladies)...Read More

Food was not worth the wait...I had the shrimp basket and it was definitely NOT worth 17.99. My server informed me that only 2 people were actually waiting tables which seemed about right considering how long it took to even get our drinks ordered. It has a nice atmosphere for kids and it's right on the beach which is about all it has going for it. I wish we had gone to Lulu's!

Overall I would recommend the Hangout as a great place to grab lunch while in Gulf Shores.

Upon leaving the place, the server shouted from the balcony and my friend and I left and stopped outside of the premises in parking lot (at the gate entrance) waiting on our other friends to catch up. The male server actually ran out of the Hangout and approached us (2 ladies) in the parking lot. I calmly explained to him why I had not tipped him and he then said we were nothing but rude, obnoxious Alabamians.

I have already called the Manager that was on duty after leaving and was assured that I would receive phone call next day regarding this incident. It has been three days and have not received any contact from management regarding what action they had taken. I will be contacting upper management about this experience.
