About this activity

Atmospheric and highly informative, The Bengilla Migrant Experience shares the daily life of those seeking it's accommodations during repopulation after WW2 and is a public memory place. The site features written and pictorial records, a library and museum that brings to life the post-war immigration policies.

Did you know that one in twenty Australians have links to Bonegilla?

So whether you're visiting as a family, group or as a school, there's so much to learn about this point in history and what it means for Australia today.

Start at the Welcome Centre and staff will take you on your tour of Block 19.

You'll get to hear all about the people who came through it too!

There's lots of tours availables, so you can explore all of the original buildings and really walk in the shoes of those migrants who make Australia their home.

You'll find some light snacks and drinks in the Welcome Centre, but if you do want to make a day of it, there's some picnic areas too.

Keep your eyes peeled on the interactive suitcases around the site! These form part of the suitcase trail and you'll be able to explore more about Bonegilla Camp life.
