Where are we going today?
A zoo is always an exciting experience for the kids, but what if the animals weren't in small enclosures, but rather in natural bushland and large open style exhibits - almost like a safari!
Taronga Western Plains Zoo is just that! Located in Central West Dubbo, this amazing zoo is home to hundreds of amazing animals from all across the globe. The world of animals has literally come to YOU!
The zoo has a huge number of fascinating and amazing species that the kids can experience and learn all about, as they can see most of the animals exhibiting their own natural behaviours.
There is a 6km circuit that you can drive around to really have some amazing encounters. Kids can get up close to a big car, or drop in on those cheeky meerkats. They can even learn why hippos are such good swimmers! (Why do you think that is?)
Taronga Western Plains Zoo really is a truly special experience for the family.
There are a number of programs and experiences that are really wonderful for kids. The giraffe encounters is a fun way to see how they measure up to those tallest creatures on earth! They can even personally feed them from their own hands - that's pretty amazing!
The Wild Africa Encounters is perfect if you want an exclusive behind the scenes tour that will take you up close to those iconic African animals, and kids can learn about those critically endangered animals such as the White Rhinos.

Completely different experience to the Taronga in Sydney. We rented bicycles (included in Zoofari lodge package) and there is a huge amount of area to explore. If doing it on bikes it is tiring but it is so nice to know that the animals actually have space to roam. This makes it a far better zoo experience. One criticism is the lack of good signposting around the zoo - very easy to get lost and the maps aren't that great. Would be better if there was a single recommended route like in the Sydney Taronga. We paid extra to do the tiger encounter -...Read More

Did the roar and snore. Tents were clean and 'beds' were surprisingly comfortable. Price seems high when you book but between the amazing good they include, and the quantity of it, and the areas of the park you get to see on the morning walk, that isn't available to regular ticket holders, it all sums up to an amazing experience.

Fantastic experience, well laid out and the walk/drive/ride is perfect , only have one issue with the whole 2 days and that was the toilets in the main building and the overuse of automatic aerosol fragrance dispensers, and the asthma attack they gave my wife, so NOT asthma friendly at all. the staff when approached about this were great and as helpful as they could be given the limited ability to action anything as the dispensers are automatic, so no faults there.

Highly recommend this for any big cat lovers.
