The Queen Victoria Museum offers Tasmanian Social History and Natural Science collections spread across six installations which are suitable for family viewing. The range is large from dinosaurs to death masks and encompasses a regularly varying selection of artefacts and items.
The Phenomena Factory is their interactive, learn science through play centre. Hands on fun education suitable for almost all age groups, however little ones may not get the most out of it!
There is also a plentarium which offers regualr shows throughout the year. Gaze in wonder at the starts and learn all about space.
It's been open since 1968, so it's well established with visitors throughout Australia!
